Asked to be in a wedding this summer. But Planning DS for summer could I do both?
Thank you all so very much. While I REALLY want my surgery and don't want to wait another day. For her I would.
So here are my thoughts. I will submit for approval as soon as I possibly can after my diet. And go from there. If it is a fast process I will try to get surgery scheduled as early as possible. But if it is looking at mid July or later than I will post pone until after the wedding. I mean once I am approved I can do that right? I don't have any kind of time limit do I?
I figure if I have at least 6 weeks I should do fine. She will totally understand if I have to sit and chillax. But anything less than six weeks and I will wait. I don't want to be the one who brought death to the party!
Thanks again for all your input.

i think it will depend on a couple of factors; a) complications are always a possibility, unfortunately. all the positive thinking in the world won't prevent them, sometimes they just happen. also b) some people just have a harder recovery. are you the type that, when you're told to drink 60oz of water you'll drink 80, even when it's really uncomfortable? when you're told to walk to prevent blood clots, are you going to be up and out of bed on your own, or need to be dragged out?
i think if i was at least two weeks out, i could've done a wedding easily. i would have been very tired, and sat down a lot, but i could do it.

I had major abdominal surgery (not the DS) about 6 weeks before my sister's wedding and was a bridesmaid. I made it through the day but it was extremely exhausting. The fitting of the dress prior to that day was also quite uncomfortable. Had she not been my sister I would not have done it.
What if you offer to do something other than be a bridesmaid? Maybe do a reading or some other thing that allows you to participate to a lesser degree? If you explain the situation and offer to be a part of her big day, she shouldn't feel slighted.
