PLEASE block me...

The lesson wasn't for you personally. This was based totally on my past personal experiences with negative people in general here on OH. Sarcasm never comes across correctly through typed words without excessive extra wording showing your sarcastic intent . No I have no idea what  is going on prior to this outburst of negativity but when newbies come in here and see all this crap it really turns them off from getting the support they need.  It is just so unproductive for everyone. To all who think that they are a "self" proclaimed troll come out from under the bridge enjoy the light of day, soak up some positive support and be supportive of other people and stop just being rude and jabbing at people with sharp words. It just seems like every time I stop by here at OH this kind of stuff is going on. It's a shame because OH was my life blood before surgery. It got me through the most stressful time of my life. It was proof that there was hope and that I would make it to the other side.
I made it to the other side! I am sitting on the losers bench with a very small boney butt!
I got my cookie and it was wrapped in BACON!!!!!! DS humor don't ya love it!!!!!!!!!

Yes Yorkie, what DOES she mean by that comment?  I see she hasn't chosen to answer; she is too busy jumping on the bully bandwagon with the other "meanies".  Jeesh!

Hi there!
As a pre-op revision, I can understand that you're likely feeling very edgy right now.  It's a huge step, and there are tons of "unknowns" that you're probably worrying about, too.  Just try to relax, even though it's really hard right now.  I am also learning to take what I need from these boards and leave the rest.  I can't even imagine what some of the vets deal with daily, answering the same questions over and over again, but I am glad that they do!  Yes, the search function on OH does kinda suck.  I'm sure I've asked the exact same questions as 500 other pre-ops have, but I'm grateful for the vets answers.  Yes, some people have me blocked here.  I don't know them, and don't know why they have me blocked.  It's unfortunate, though, because now I won't be able to benefit from their experiences and their knowledge.  I know that I can't control them, their reasons for blocking me, or anything else about them for that matter.  All I can control is me.  I hope you get the answers to your questions.  Best of luck on your upcoming surgery.  Be sure to scooch on over when it's my turn to join the bench, ok?

It's the internet.  Just like IRL, you have to let some stuff roll off your back.  I've had nothing but aces on this board so far (well, one person called me a name yesterday, but it just made me grin.)  Simmah down...

Mindi,

Since I JUST suggested to you on another thread a few hours ago that you block people you do not want to hear from, I will respond to this latest attention-whoring post from you.

There, I suggested YOU block people that you don't want to hear from. However, you do run the risk of blocking veterans who could give you some very important information on your journey, so do so at your own risk.

If people tire of your attention-whoring, they can block you. They know that. They do not need encouragement from you to do so. On the other hand, you have some entertainment value, so I will not block you. You can feel free to block me, though. That's your right to do privately, not in some grand, public post. Just do it.

I originally thought you were just an excited newbie and couldn't contain your excitement and fears. There's something more, here, though. You are desperate for attention. Maybe talk to people in your real life more, too?

Just some friendly advice:

Most people on this site do not like attention *****s, unless it is done in a humorous, OCCASIONAL way. (i.e. "It's my 1-year anniversary--check out my attention-***** pictures!"). We eat that stuff up--it's great.

However, daily posts about EVERY step you take during your day or any random thought you have are really diluting your message and creating a "Boy Who Cried Wolf" situation. Veterans are ignoring your posts in droves. For example, it is very rare for someone to have to make a public appeal for someone to be their angel (hint, hint).

When you REALLY need something from a veteran, no one but other newbies will be left to read your posts after your DS. Is that what you want??? Do you really want the wolf to eat you alive?

You can blather on all you want about "negativity" on this forum, but I have seen some pretty damn amazing support on this forum in my 3+ years here. People going to visit members in the hospital, fund drives to help people with complications, vitamins being shared or purchased for people who cannot afford them, etc. If you alienate people like you are doing, you can expect to not partake in any of that love.

And, just about all of your posts bring the attention back to YOU. Unless someone is asking for YOUR personal experience, there is no need to babble on about yourself. Answer a question, give some support and move on.

So, think about yourself and your role in this. You are not some hapless victim. You can show some self-control and maturity.

Best of luck to you.
