Got my pedicure !!

I will be admitted tomorrow and then on Friday I will have a revision to my lower eyelid surgery and possibly a revision to my brow lift.  I had my lower eyelids done back in June and when they healed there was a little sagging that exposed my eye a little too much.  And also I developed scar tissue inside the outer corner of my eye that I can feel pulling at my eye all of the time.  It is not painful most of the time but I am always aware of it.  The plastic surgeon has been planning his approach to the surgery for some time as this is not an off the shelf surgery.  He has consulted with the eye surgeons at the hospital and there is a possibility an eye surgeon will be involved in the surgery.  As I understand it there are two parts to what he will be doing.  The first part involves taking down the scar tissue that has formed on the muscle (or is a tendon?) and the second part involves revising the lower lid.  In most people the lower lid sits at the bottom of the iris of the eye.  In my case one can see white space below the iris.  He will be taking a skin graft from in front of my ear and although we have discussed this many times I am still a little unclear exactly where he will be putting the skin graft.  All I know is that he told me that after a few months the graft will not be noticeable.  Oh, joy -- because next to my hair my eyes have always been one of my good features.  Needless to say -- this one is scaring me a tiny bit more than any other procedure I have had.

The plastic surgeon who will be doing this surgery is not the plastic surgeon who originally did the eyes nor any of my body work).  The surgeon who will be doing my surgery is the facial specialist on the team.  He is also the surgeon that has provided practically all of the follow-up care for all of my surgeries.  So I have been working with him for two years now.  He knows me.  He knows my history.  I have confidence in his ability and I have faith that he will be there for me if anything goes wrong.

The plan (at least when I spoke to the surgeon last month) is for me to be in the hospital at least over the weekend.  I generally have the same anesthesiologist; the same patient transport specialist and the same nurses.  Then there are my buddies at the nursing home and out on the spinal cord injury unit.  So in some ways this will be like old home week for me.

You guys wish me luck!

I'm glad to read that you have a good team surrounding you in all of this.  There is some comfort there.  Best wishes for a perfect surgery with a great outcome, and also for a speedy recovery.

Of course we all know when you get a pedicure that really means you're about to have surgery, lol.   So, I popped in here to see what was going on with you.

I hope that everything goes well for you.  Sounds like you're in good hands.  Keep us posted.
