GAS and Poop

Let me put it into perspective a bit here.

My husband and I live with a roommate right now.  It's a guy.  This morning, in the hour he and I spent together before he went to work (we were on our computers and chatting, just to make sure no one thinks anything else), he farted probably a dozen times.  LOUDLY.  We've been friends for years, so it's not a big deal.  Normally, his don't smell, but sometimes they do.  In that time, I farted zero times.  Not holding it in, just didn't have to do so.

I do poo in the mornings, usually twice.  I get up about 5 or so and go and then again a few hours later.  And it does smell.  Roomie has called me kimchee ass more than once.  And he's Asian, so he would know.    I keep air freshner in the bathroom and spray it as needed.

I usually fart a time or two at night when I first lay down at night.  And sometimes the dogs have been known to come out from under the covers (they are chihuahuas) and give me a dirty look.  Or the husband will accidently fan the covers while adjusting them and go "Dammit honey"     But we all have a good sense of humor about it.  Even my roomie understands about the malabsorption and all that.

But I make sure I eat low carb and stay away from sugar and white flour.  So I minimize my issues.

As for going while out, I've actually never had to poop while out.  I don't know why, but my body is very good at making sure I'm home or at my mom's house when I'm visiting her (which is much much funnier cuz she is not shy either about telling me my **** stinks.  LOL  LOVE you too mom!) before I have to go.   NOT so pre-op.  Pre op I had no poop 'schedule'.  My body pooped whenever, wherever, with no thought to hey, maybe I want to SEE this scene in the movie we paid big bucks to go see.

I've lost 129lbs, give or take the few lbs I'm bouncing around right now due to my time of the month.  I have a lot more to go at this point, as I started out at 445.  I would MUCH rather be where I'm at than where I was, no thought about it needed.

And if I did have to poop while out?  Well, guess what?  EVERYBODY ****s.  And nobody's **** smells good, no matter what they think.  I have a lot of social anxiety issues, so there have been times when I've stayed a bit longer in the stall to let someone else clear out so they don't see me come out of the stall (this was pre-op).  And, I'm a big big fan of the courtsey flush, even at home.

The gas and poop has a lot to do with what you eat.   It can be quite noxious, but stick with the plan and you'll have few problems.  Poop smells.  It always did.  it's a little different now, but it still stinks (surprise).  Most of us poo only once or twice daily....the first one being the almighty emptying of everything inside of you, then the second one may be later in the day.  The scare tactics of running uncontrollably to the bathroom are not commonplace at all.

Three things likely to cause any gastric distress (mileage may vary by person)

Simple carbs
Artificial Sweeteners
Lactose Intolerance

Simple carbs is pretty common for all of us, but people are affected by different things.  You figure that out and leave it out of your eating plan and you're home free.

Well Pilgrim; (doing my best John Wayne accent) here's the story on the poop! It's pretty stinky and weird for the first few weeks while your body adjusts to all the new plumbing, but after that is settles down into a very reliable routine, unless you really change what you eat. Just keep to the DS kind of food; high protein, low carb, full fat and you'll be just fine.

My schedule is so predictable it's down right boring. I get up at 5:00 AM and take my first dose of Iron about the time the Iron hits my stomach, I start feeling the urge to poop. I put it off for a few minutes to let the pressure build a bit so I can have a nice huge DS poop. Once that's out of the way; usually a couple of minutes, it's on with life as normal. I'll usually have one more poop within the hour and that's it for the day. Once in awhile, maybe once a week, I'll need to go again in the afternoon, but not very often.

The smell is a little different than pre-DS, but no worse and probably not as bad as before. It is nothing to be concerned about.

Now that being said, if I eat a bunch of pasta or sugar or white bread, I can make gas to beat the band, hell I could fill a dirigible like the Hindenburg! But this is a known effect and if I want to make a batch of gas, I sure know how to do it. Usually, I eat lots of high protein, low carb, full fat foods and they just make those nice fluffy but huge poops I get every morning.

It's all much ado about nothing...

A box of matches and strike one post poo and there is NO smell at all except for the smell of struck match.  Completely neutralises the smell.

I am a stinky poo person but it is actually getting much better.  I only **** once a day in the morning and never when out and about so leaving a trail of poo smells in my wake isn't going to happen!!!!
