Try this method, and throw that crusher away:

1) fill your mouth with liquid
2) tilt head back
3) drop pills in
4) swallow it all together

You won't feel a thing!  I taught my son how to do this when he was only 4, and I never had to chase him around the house with a spoon again.

I second this method! I think I learned it from you, Val. :D It works like a charm, I don't even feel the pills. I guess having the liquid in your mouth before the pills keeps things from sticking and you don't taste a thing. With this method I can take my entire handful of pills, including 2 giant calcium horsepills, in one swallow.

Have you purchased some chewable multivits and chewable calcium?

Chewable multis, yes.  Chewable calcium, no.  Didn't think I needed to because I've never had a problem with pills!!!

My wife takes BA Chewable Calcium as a afternoon treat, and I have heard the Lemon Citracel is really nice.   Both are tasty, but are expensive.   Most of the drug stores also sell chewable calcium, so it might be an easy way to keep up with your calcium until you can swallow those monster pills.

I used to take my vits/meds by the handfull, and since DS, I now take them one at a time, but then again, the Calcium Pills really are horse pills.  The worst pill  is the uncoated Zinc by Puritan Pride, that just always wants to get stuck.   When I finish these up, I will only buy the coated for easy swallowing version.

I have had difficulty swallowing my calcium pills and my pharmacist recommended trying something he had at the pharmacy last time I was in. It is called Pill Glide swallowing aid and it is a SF liquid spray. It does not numb your throat but rather provides a nice slippery surface. I squirt 3 sprays in at the back of my throat, pop in the pill, take a sip of water and then down the hatch it goes. Nice 'n easy. Plenty of flavors to choose from, too - I picked grape and it's good.

Good luck.
