Does MY DS Have an OFF Switch?

What is more important than the weight (high or low) is the general health condition. If a patient is not a diabetic anymore, and Blood pressure, cholesterol, etc problems are resolved then the amount of weight loss

My diabetes was solved the day of surgery, my sleep apnea is 99% cured (that means I really don't need a cpap, but my wife wants me to get another sleep study before I stop using the cpap*), my blood pressure has dropped, and I have stopped using one drug, but still am on norvasc and aticand.

Have you read any studies that show what percent of people are able to get off of BP meds by reaching the normal BMI?

* I have kept turning down the pressure on my cpap it dropped from 10 to 6, without any snoring or sleep apnea.   I am turning it down to 5 tonight.  and the lowest they have on the machine is 4.   It will be nice not to wake up with that mask on.

I don't know about studies, but I know that with some doctors I've spoken to that the high blood pressure is usually more related to genetics than being overweight, even though, of course, it's all being blamed on us being fat.

I am not sure if you drink protien shakes still but I am adding 3 a day to try to keep my weight were it is at.   I am looking a little crackish and do not want to slip anymore (well maybe 2 more pounds so I can be a normal BMI).   Adding this protien should help you maintain your current weight.

John you know I love protein like a bloody seal loves a shark tank.  That is just not gonna happen.    I would rather be crackhead thin than have 3 shakes a day!

I know, right?! Seems a funny worry to have from my perspective, but we all have our concerns. That said, I wouldn't want to be too thin either, but I know my body hasn't heard of such a thing.

Yeah, many of us worry about that, but then find our fears were unfounded. For many of us, we dip down a little low and then get a nice bounce to bring us back to where we "should" be, a healthy BMI.

I'd say just trust your body, give it time. If you are still really worried at the end of 18 months, see your doc for some creon.

Then again, maybe Dr. Houston does his DSes a little "differently?" Two of you on this thread have him and are experiencing the same thing, so maybe he made something in your anatomies a little more aggressive than most of us? I have no idea, just spitballin' here.

Nah, nothins super agressive, in fact the opposite.  I have a 50f bougie and a 125 common channel. I wanted both a litttle bigger cause I didn't want to lose as much.  I new this pre-op.  I did have my metaolism tested by Dr. Voellinger before I switched to Houston, and I tested with a really high metabolism.  Maybe that's the culprit?

I hate bougie talk, BTW. There are so many variables that affect weight loss that bougie size is not even near the top, from pre-existing absorption levels, size/length of stomach, stretchiness of stomach, etc. I think bougie size is crazy VSG talk because restriction is ALL they have going for them, IMHO.

My surgeon uses a 58f bougie on everyone, no matetr who you are, and none of us seem to have trouble getting to goal and staying there unless we have short-bowel syndrome or such.

You might be a big malabosrber like Julie in Michigan. How are your labs?

Just my two cents.
