Confused about Dreamfields Pasta low carb content

While it doesn't bother me (but then again, neither does regular pasta), I'm not sure I believe that it's truly "low carb" pasta.  In moderation, it's okay ... but if I'm being more mindful of my carbs (like right now) the whole "hocus pocus" of hidden carbs doesn't work well with my scientific brain.  If the box says 36 net carbs, 36 net carbs it is.  I'd rather have a candy bar for that many carbs.  LOL

But I'll stick with an Atkins bar.  Surprisingly, those bars have really helped with the sugar cravings.  They have some yummy ones ... especially the Chocolate Mousse bar.   I like the Apple Crisp and Cranberry Almond bars too.  I've been stocking up ... my local store has them on sale, and I had a bunch of coupons so they've been a good deal lately.

I don't care about the carbs..I care about the discomfort I get when eating gluten-based stuff, like pasta, which happens to be full of carbs.  Regular pasta causes me gas, bloating, and a loud, roaring gut.  Dreamfields does not.  So something is keeping most of the carbs (the wheat flour) from being digested in my gut.

I'm still early out, so trying to keep my carbs between 25-50.  This is the first time I've had pasta since pre-op, so we'll see how Dreamfields' does for me. Keep your fingers crossed!

I dunno why, and I wi**** weren't so, but Dreamfields still gives me gas.   I just made a wonderful lasagna with it and I had loud, obnoxious gas for THREE DAYS!   I almost think that good semolina pasta wouldnt affect me as badly as that Dreamfields did.

If you decide that you do like it, just don't go all butt-wild with it.  I ate way too much over the course of a few hours because of some heavenly mac & cheese that rachel made and I blew up like a balloon on the drive home, and the gas was as bad as regular pasta.  Eaten in reasonable amounts, though, perfectly harmless.

Oooo - sorry for the drive home!  I had about a third cup, including sauce and lots of parm cheese, so probably only about a quarter cup of pasta. So far so good, but we'll see!  Thanks for the warning Val!

I have used Dreamfields a few times, maybe once a month or less, and no real problems. Looking to get me some elbows for a mac& cheese recipe I have. Different stores in my area have different "shapes". I know where to go for elbows, just have to go, that's it!
