Confused about Dreamfields Pasta low carb content

The only time I had a problem tolerating Dreamfields was when I ate too much too fast (it was so good!). But normally it sits really well in my tummy and doesn't give me intestinal distress. Love love love throwing it together with alfredo sauce & chicken...mac'n'cheese...spaghetti with "lots of meat" sauce...tuna macaroni salad w/extra tuna & mayo....I make something with it probably once or twice a month and then eat leftovers for 2-3 days. Come to think of it, I could go for some tuna macaroni salad. Yums!

Dreamfields (any amount) + me = DISASTEROUS!!!!!!!!
The runs, gas and bloating.  I avoid that stuff like the plague.  That is the ONLY thing that I eat that effects me that way.  YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!!

I'm not sure exactly how the magic works, and I don't know about the gas issue (I haven't had pasta in quite some time), but I can say that when I was pre-op, I ate Dreamfields becaise of my type 2 diabetes, and it sure didn't spike my glucose levels like regular pasta, so they're on to something!

That's so interesting--I had the exact opposite experience. When I've eaten Dreamfields, it acts the same as regular pastas with my blood sugars. In other words, I have to take the same amount of insulin with Dreamfields as with Barilla.

With great power (the DS!) comes great responsibility.

Weird - YMMV, I suppose.

I don't know how it works, but it doesn't bother my intestines like regular pasta does.  I don't eat much of it when I make it, though, as I've lost much of my taste for pasta - even the texture of noodles is kind of gross to me these days.  My DD and DH, though, don't notice any difference when I make mac & cheese with it or put red sauce on it.  I agree with the small portion advice.  When I do eat it, I have about a half a cup of cooked pasta.  Long gone are the days of a heaping bowl full of Fettucine Alfredo.

I don't know how it works or whether or not its hocus pocus...but its the only kind of pasta I eat.

It doesn't give me gas or bloat me up.  But I also don't eat a crap ton of it either - I made scallops with alfredo sauce, broccoli and Dreamfield's Penne for dinner tonight.  I ate all the scallops and broccoli and SOME of the penne...I didn't want to fill up on the pasta instead of the protein.

I think it tastes great and doesn't give me gas, so something must be working right!  But I truly think that its a total YMMV kinda thing!

Good luck and enjoy!

I haven't tried regular pasta--I'm sure it would tear me up. I'll give it a shot at some point.

I have had a small amount of dreamfield's, once, since surgery. It didn't cause me any problems, and it didn't give me the "sugar rush" kind of feeling that regular pasta did before surgery.
