So who wants to come to MONTANA this summer????
Um, LeaAnn, I have the feeling this might not be your idea of a great trip, but I hope I'm wrong....
Okay. I'm gonna spend most of the summer in Yellowstone Country, and I am a dyed in the wool native. I give one HELL of a good cross country tour, I can grill beef like you wouldn't believe, I know all the good beers and party joints, and I have MANY ideas about how to party out in GOD'S COUNTRY.
So, WHO would like to see the last best place on the planet this summer with the absolute BEST hostess of them all? She who knows ranch America AND big city mentality? She with twenty years of testimonials of a HELL of a good party? (Across two continents :-P) Who is brave enough to come PARTY WITH ME??????
I have four different ideas in my head to bounce off you lovely folks:
1. B&B in the middle of the COUNTRY, as in wayyyyy out there in a very pretty place, with a sweet marvelous homey atmosphere, with the added edge that I am kinda sorty related to the owners. We would need to bring most of our own entertainment, BUT the sky would be the limit on partying. Said place is the retirement project for my sister's inlaws. Um, I think they can accomodate around ten people if we plan in advance. It's a private home with OMG fabulous views, grill, beef (BEEF!!!!) and the sweetest hosts you could want, who BTW have known me since 1985. Entertainment that's "not us" would be 15-25 minutes away by vehicle and would include hot springs soaking/swimming (no booze allowed) and small town bar/steak house/party place. This is the place for folks who know how to bring their own entertainment.
2. Simple hotel/cabin type accomodations in the vicinity of where I grew up. Emphasis on SIMPLE CABIN TYPE. We could wander around, party, do day trips, party, dance, party, barbecue, party, hike, party.....Day trips, party....... Did I mention that there are around 50 craft beers produced in MT and I would consider it great fun to see how many of those I could assemble in one place?
3. Dude ranch type experience. There are several places with a huge variety of accomodations. Here is one middle of the road example: http://www.diamondjranch.com/ We could do anything from a long weekend to a week. Look at what they offer and know that I can call this or any of several other places and work out a personalized DS party animal plan for similar pricing :-). Depends on what's important to you....Beer, partying, horses, wilderness, golf, fancy cuisine.... (compared to #1, where yours truly would be executive chef).
4. More of a resort type experience.Tell me what you want and I'll see what I can do. General vicinity would be Bozeman/Big Sky/Yellowstone Country.
Timing? June 20-August 10.

Now that sounds like MY idea of a vacation .... !!
I would have to do Yellowstone ... haven't been there since I was a kid. I could drive there, no airplanes needed.
Only problem ... I'm taking summer classes. One of them just happens to be about the geology of national parks and I have to do a field trip anyways ... but I would have to be somewhere I could have regular access to wi-fi so I could keep up with my classes. Have laptop will travel.
I'm not much of a partier ... but good food, good views, good hiking, horseback riding and such are right up my alley!
