Help! Nasty iron burps!

I just started taking carbonyl iron this morning as per my doctor because my pre op labs showed I'm anemic.  I followed the directions and drank a full glass of water with the pill, but I didn't eat anything with it. For the two hours between taking the pill and eating breakfast, I had the most disgusting burps.  They were actually worse than fish oil burps!  Any advice on how to keep that from happening?  As soon as I ate they went away, but what a horrible two hours!!!!

It seems to me that you are going to have to eat something when you swallow the pill besides drinking the water.  Good luck!

Take them at night instead of the morning.

Do you take yours at night?? I did that ONCE. I never taste the Tender Iron when I take them at noon, but OMG that one time that I took them and then went to bed I woke up in the middle of the night with a taste in my mouth like a family of wet dogs had crawled in there and died. Never again!!

I take them with vit c so maybe that is why??? Love your description of the after taste though :)

I used to get these until I started taking a chewable vitamin C with them.  I get mine at Trader Joe's - orange flavored.  Take that and a bunch of water and no more burps!

I'm one of the proud, the few, who have what VitaLady calls "Motor Burps".  My iron burps tastes like motor oil or engine fumes!  Ew.  I've tried doing everything to combat them (all types of eating remedies, drinking stuff, you name it).  Meh, small price to pay for keeping my iron up.  I'll live.  Just don't want to eat some white flour and burp at the same time - someone might think I'm running a generator in the house or something!

LOL, I've chased those iron pills with all sorts of fruits and foods.  The iron refuses to run.  It's not fair that my iron doesn't play by the rules!
