Another Hailey (MsUnderstood) update. Still in the hospital.
Hey folks,
Sorry for the lack of updates over the past few days but I have been out of town on a business trip.
While she is doing a lot better, Hailey is still in the hospital.
The abbreviated backstory: Had the DS in November 08. Had severe intestinal pains off and on since 7th month post op. Went to ER several times in New Mexico, where no one knew about the DS, no one could ever diagnose anything. Had the same pains again a few weeks ago, went back to ER, and this time they found an obstruction on her CT. Her bowel had wrapped itself around her mesenteric artery. I talked her into coming back to NYC to have Roslin operate on her. Was supposed to be a quick fix but took 3 hours for him to untwist the bowel. Had to have another operation a week later due to an area that failed to unkink. All this time she had no food, no vites, no central line. They finally put her on TPN her 10th day in the hospital, but her labs got severely out of whack. Her hemoglobin dropped to 6 and she's had blood transfusions, plasma, and iron infusions.
She is feeling much better but not out of the woods yet since her iron is still tanked, and her hgb is still only 8.3 and her hematocrit only 23ish. So, she is still in the hospital for the time being until they can bring those up enough to stabilize her to leave. She said she feels good otherwise. She still has the central line, but they've dc'ed the TPN, she is able to eat without vomiting, off all pain meds, sounds like she feels much better but her CBC panel is still a mess and iron is still too low. She is ready to get out of there and hoping it will be tomorrow or the next day. She will stay with me for a couple of weeks and a visiting nurse service will come to administer iron here at my apartment. She still has the central line, so she doesn't have to keep going back to the hospital for the infusions.
She started running a low-grade temp tonight...about 100, but hoping it's nothing to be concerned about.
Hopefully the worst of this is over for her. She has been such a fighter. She is a TOUGH cookie. And hoping she gets out of there ASAP!!!

My schedule frees up this week a ton if you want me to pick her up from the hospital and take her to your place (or the both of you). Just let me know....do you still have my cell number?
7/19/09 - DS with Dr. Alfons Pomp
7/11/12 - tummy tuck, UBL, larg lipo sculpting of torso, lipo of "buffalo hump" with Dr. Sauceda
Oh no, I meant to call her today to see if she was out. Poor girl, I am so sad to hear that she is still in the hospital. She is just amazing and for someone who has been through what she has she is handling it soooooo well and looks incredible!
I am going out of town for a few days tomorrow but please wish her the best from me when you speak with her again and I hope she gets better soon.
