Preop Diagnosis: Anal Fissure Anal Stenosis
I'm with Diana -- the pain after anal fissure surgery was INCREDIBLE. I was on hydrocodone for four weeks. It was unbelievably painful -- and I don't think my surgeon did a good job. It happened to me while on vacation and so I had it done by a stranger. As soon as I woke up from the surgery I regretted it. And now, the incision keeps getting infected. UGH. So gross.
Meanwhile, I also totally agree with Diana about the reasons for why we get fissures. I know that I clench to hold in gas or explosive diarrhea. Can't be helped, although I can control my poop with diet.
Big hugs. Take the painkillers!

I did NOT have the surgery.
I suffered for months in excrutiating pain.
I saw the Doc. He rec surgery. I scheduled the surgery and canceled it.
I believe it was about 1 month of SERIOUSLY STRICT EATING. I MEAN: Low Low Carb, HIGH FAT (to promote BM), and protein, protein, protein.
LOW CALORIE: Because I SIMPLY ATE LESS.
It gave my butt a much needed rest, so to speak.
I used the Nitro, the hydrocortisone, and the Lidocaine multiple times daily. I used Tramadol for pain.
IT WENT AWAY. I went back to the surgeon, for follow up. And, he said... it was gone.
:)
Still have to have a flex sig as follow up as well, but I know what's going on down there now. I know the difference between fissure pain and hem pain and MY DIET can contribute to MY issues. I don't know how it effects others........
That is MY Story for me. the fecal incontinence scared me so much, that it shocked me into a totally controlled diet........... and I mean TOTALLY.
