DS Revision vs virgin DS
I'm a Revision from an 1999 RNY.
It took me a year, but I'm 10 lbs from goal. And you know what, if I never get there, I'm ok. Size 8? Are you freaking KIDDING me? Anyone that thinks I need to loose the other 10 lbs, can kiss my small jiggly ass! HA!
Anyway, everyone on this board told me not to be obsessed with comparing myself with virgin DS'ers. So I didn't. I put it in my head, that if I lost 10 lbs a month....I'd be ok, and wouldn't freak out. I lost 20 the first month, so I was always 10 lbs ahead of the game through the whole year.
IMO, revisions don't have more difficult time losing, it just takes longer. That seems to be the norm from all the reading I did before surgery.
Good luck in your search for answers!
Edited: year of RNY...duh! I originally put 88, my bad!

Thanks to all Kerry etc who kindly answered my questions. As to the others, as MY memory serves me, rabid DS'ers came to the lap band board and started insulting people about their choices. I have ALWAYS stood by the fact that people have the right to choose and you don't 'convince' people to choose your way by insulting them, so I won't insult anyone *****sponded in the way they did...it shows more about THEM than it does about me. Actually that is the reason for the disclaimer on my original post...I didn't want to start any trouble and just wanted a forum where I could get support and not condemnation and for that reason I always hesitate to come here. There are some really nice and supportive people on this forum as I have privately "spoken" to them, but I have no patience for people who just want humiliate and demean.
Thanks for all the responses and I will ignore all the rest. It may be that the only support I get will be from PM's because support is what we come here for...not insults.

START: 330 CURRENT: 274.5 lbs GOAL: 190 TOTAL: 55.5 lbs
I have ever seen any of the DSers try to "convince" any one to have "their surgery". All I have seen is they ask people to be aware and educated as to their surgery choices, I am a prime example of it, the first time around I had not heard much about it , the second time I was simply ignorant and did not research! I regret it every day.

Nope, your memory does not serve you correctly. You didn't meet me on the band board, it was on the revision board, like I said, and your behavior with anyone who mentioned DS was abhorrent.
If my memory serves correctly, when others were asking for input on types of revision, you attacked anyone that suggested DS, and said they were "pushing their pet surgery", and then you proceeded to suggest which ever ill-fated procedure you had had most recently - your RNY had failed, then you were saying how well you were doing with stomafix, then that failed and you said band over bypass was doing it for you.
If you are too stubborn to allow anyone to utter the "D" word there, than at least chill so the the others there can find the useful information, instead of helping them follow down your many wrong paths.
You have bitten every DSer on the revision board. How ironic that you are here. And still with an assitude.

Hrmmm. Let's see. It's called NOT BURNING YOUR BRIDGES. That would be a good place to start. People have loooooong memories. Get used to it.
And you know, if you had not put your initial disclaimer out there, people might not have put a lot together OR made an issue of past issues. In attempting to prevent things, you made it worse. Good job!

They're here! My surro-sons were born July 21, 2009. Welcome to the world, Benjamin and Daniel. We love you very much!
Com'on Bearmom... give her a break. We ALL think we chose the right surgery type the first time. If we didn't think it was the best surgery type for us we wouldn't have had the surgery type.
Bearmom, you are one of the folks I really like, you provide good info, please do the same for my friend, Pepsi? Please? She needs help right now, she's in a bariatric mess and she's coming to you guys looking for help. Just give it to her????
In all fairness to Pepsi she did come to the BAND boards when a few nasty DSers were taking over the board and she got a bad taste in her mouth. I can't blame her. I did too until I got to know folks like LeaAnn, you, MsBatt, etc. I've changed my attitude as well. Just give her a chance, she needs help. You have a choice, you can slam dunk her or help. It really is a choice.
Please?
