Blood pressure again ~

I'll betcha that with all of the exercise you've been doing and your lower weight, you're going to have to come off the meds completely.  Just a hunch.  Do check with your doc.    My BP (and I"ve never taken meds for it at all) post op now runs around 90/50 on a good day.  I very frequently set off all the alarms on the BP machines because it's often lower than that.    When it's warm out or I don't get enough fluids in, I can tell it drops further, and I have the same symptoms you describe.   My dad has recently lost 45 pounds and he's been on BP meds for years.   Unfortunately, he's lost the weight due to chemo, but he was having orthostatic hypotension too, and his meds were reduced for the first time in probably 20 years.

I sure hope you're right Julie, I sure would love to be able to get off them completely; that would be awesome!

I hope that you will soon be reporting that you aren't on any meds for hypertension Kerry.  I got weaned off mine by my pcp...  ain't the DS a miracle?

That would indeed be a miracle Becky; my Dad has been on BP meds since he was in his 40's and he's never been even a little overweight. I figured I would always be on them because my Dad has had to take them.

If I were a bettin gal, I would bet you are done with those darn meds.  My hubby has experienced some of those symptoms and he has low bp.  Do you have a BP cuff to monitor with?  You may have low bp with even lower dips.

I hope you get this straightened out and feel better soon.

Hi Kerry,
I was off my BP meds by 6 mos out. It was about 120/77 then and I had it taken Thurs. 111/70....Lowest it's been in years ! My doc is happy with that and I am too!
I'm also thinking you are done with the meds~

I sure hope you're right Bonnie, there's nothing I would like better than to get off those meds. And yes I have a cuff so I can check the BP any time I want to.

I feel great, the little bit of black out, or dizziness is very short, it only lasts a few seconds.

That sounds rather concerning, Kerry.  I think your wise to check with your PCP.

I did stop taking my BP meds after leaving the hospital following my DS, but after about 5 months, it hadn't come down far enough so I went back on them, but a lower dose.  After 7 more months, the meds helped keep me regulated, and my doctor took me back off them 2 months ago.  So far so good, I'm staying pretty level without them.  I love that!

I will see my PCP this week Maria and see what he has to say about it.

Funny, but I did the same thing, I went off the meds for a month or so right after surgery, but had to start them up again. It's been a very gradual tapering off since then.
