I've been NPO since my surgery last Thursday because I haven't passed gas.  Is this normal?  All  my vitals are good, no fever, I'm up and about.  But no gas. I'm trying to not freak out over it. ~GG

Sounds pretty normal to me, it took me almost a week. But then, I had a second surgery three days after the first one, so it was probably only 3 or 4 days after the second surgery that I let er rip.

It was about 5 days or so for me. It was the day I came home from the hospital. Why do you have to be NPO til you pass gas? Is there an easy explaination I am missing on that? Or is it just your Docs rules? T

4 days here. It's why I had to stay an extra day in the hospital. Don't freak! It will happen soon.
