Update: How long after surgery till you passed gas?

DS on 07/07/10
It was day 3 in the hospital before I did. Before that, it was alot of burping.

They didn't have this rule back in November when Sudan did my surgery. 

I think it was about 3 days post-op for me.

Keep walking a lot.  That's supposed to help things move along in that area.
