Another out of country option might be Dr. Gagner, who has recently relocated in Montreal. I have no idea what he charges but he's one of the best DS surgeons anywhere.

Ungson was 13000 for virgin ds open includes 4 days hospital, 5 days hotel. I believe 16,000 for lap. You pay for air fare.

Got back last week from Brazil--lap DS with Dr. Marchesini. Total cost for everything for DH and me for 2 1/2 weeks--hotel, airfare, food, surgery, hospital, post-op meds--US $22,200.

Had Lap DS with Dr Ungson for $13,000 including 4 nights hospital stay and all surgery related expenses. On top of that I covered airfare ($700), 6 nights hotel ($330) and extra meds to bring home ($160).
I was very happy with Dr Ungson and his team, no complications so far. Although it would have been very helpful to have a Spanish speaker with me for my stay in hospital since most nurses didn't speak English.

Baltasar is one of the most experienced and published Bariatric surgeons in the world.

Keep that in mind when considering the cost. I believe Ungson and Marshesini were trained by him.

I went to Dr. Marchesini several years ago, so what I paid probably isn't relevant anymore. However, you should e-mail him at [email protected], and he will send you a quote. He does both lap and open, your choice, although lap is more expensive. He is an amazing surgeon and a wonderful person -- you could not go wrong choosing him!
