Would you do open IF you could choose lap?

Well, I did have the choice to have it done lap, and in the end I chose a surgeon that would only do it open on someone of my size.

Basically, you need to make a list of your priorities and find the surgeon that best fits them--it's unlikely there is a surgeon that fits everything on your wish list. Originally I thought lap versus open would be more important than it ended up being to me. If I were to go through the process again, I honestly don't think I would consider this issue at all in my decision.

I had two DS surgeons in town. I chose the one who did it open, and have no regrets. Somehow it makes me feel better to know they can actually see and touch.

I had major open abd. surgery years ago and lap DS three weeks ago.  I would definitely go for lap as the recovery is many times easier!  Oh, and I had no problems with gas.
