Hair Loss question for post ops
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worst hair loss, how bad was your experience. My friend had an RNY and lost ALOT on the top of her head, like in her bang area.
Hair loss won't deter me from having the surgery because I know it comes back, and the end results outweigh any negative side effects but I was just curious.

I had an RNY and then revised to a DS. I thought I lost more hair with the RNY, it started at 3 months and stopped at 7 months.
This time around it started about 2 1/2 months and it's already stopped, I will be 6 months post op in mid August.
The first time around I bought everything recommended because I was freaking out, not knowing when it was going to stop. This time I knew going into it that it wouldn't last forever and I've got pretty thick hair and didn't really care. I didn't do or use anything special this time around and all went well.
So to answer your questions - with an RNY I'd say 6; with the DS I'd say 4.
