Hair Loss question for post ops

My number would probably be a 5 or 6. I also started losing it around 3 months and it let up around 6 months. I had long, straight, thick hair and it got thin all over. I just cut it shorter and into layers and no one knew how much I had lost. It's very healthy now but it's still not as thick as it was pre-op.

I pretty much know (or think I do) what mine will end up like, as I have had multiple surgeries and then a very high risk pregnancy that sapped me BIG time.  I lost a lot of hair after each of those instances, but, I have super thick hair to start with so I can "afford" to lose a lot.  I was the only one that ever noticed.  For ME it was scary, I swore I would go bald, but I didn't and it always grew back.  I have just started to enter the hair loss phase after my DS, it is just slightly more than what I would lose on a normal day at this point.  I have taken some preemptive measures- I cut it shorter (just above my shoulders), I have asked my hairdresser to use a less harsh processor for coloring and just got my last full color till the loss stops, I am limiting my high heat processing (only blowdry/flat iron once a week or so, otherwise just let it airdry), I'm not pulling it back unless I absolutely have to, and I make sure to get in all my protein, vites, water and am taking extra zinc and Omega 3s and D, A & E.  In the end, I know any loss will come back, and it will all be worth it.  eye on the prize :)

Mine was about a 2.   I noticed some extra hair in the bathtub at about 3.5 months and it ended by 4.5 months.     My hairdresser noticed no difference,  and I never noticed any discernible thinness in my hair.   I would have never known if not for the extra hair in the tub!

Well, I hate to blow Kerry's theory out of the water but I had zero hair loss.

I had a lot of hair loss at the top of my scalp and it was hard on me! It went on between months 3-6 and now I've got some great re-growth. It's hard to say who will and won't lose hair, just be prepared for anything. For me I'd say it was a 6, but I'm like that, kinda H.M.! hehehe

I've lost no hair at all on my head.

I have gone my whole life with very little body hair - no hair on my legs or arms and very little hair in my armpit and groin areas (very embarassing when I was a teenager). In the past three months, I have been growing hair all over the place, including gross hair on my back.

I don't know if it's correct, but I am attributing this to the zinc and biotin I have been taking since srgery at the suggestion of so many folks here on OH.

I am sure I will lose some like most people, I was just scared of looking like Howie Mandel.....lol....but all kidding aside thanks for all your feedback. I just wonder why the hair loss can't be on my legs and other "area's"....lol! I will take it easy on the coloring and thermal styling if I go into hair loss mode, I may have horrible grey roots for a while but at least they will be roots and not my bare scalp lol.....or so I hope!

Thanks Ladies ands Gents!

I am almost 8 months out and I would rate my hair loss at an 8. It really scared me, I felt like a cancer patient it was coming out so much. My Nutrionist started me late on the Biotin and also my zinc was at a low dose. It started at the 3 month and it is almost done now at the 8th. I have aboout an inch of new hair grown everywhere, but I think it is more noticeable depending on the lenghth of your hair. I had very long hair and cut about 4 inches off to help.

It is a shocker but you can deal with it knowing that it will grow back.

I had long hair and it was really never the same after my surgery. I'd say at its worst the hair loss was a 4 or a 5, but it slow and consistent and it's obvious its never going to be the quality it once was.

I just chopped it off and got a short haircut.

I'm a nine.  I lost alot of hair but had thin to average hair to begin with so any loss was really noticable to me and others.  I now have extensions in my hair to look like I'm not a cancer patient.
