Balancing out the "numbers" and what you see in the mirror.
I was just thinking about this today.
Mostly because i can't get my head around that i can fit into size 8 jeans at most places, and they're even loose in the butt and legs. After buying one pair, I went researching "Vanity sizing", mostly to disqualify my now size 8 butt. I thought "AHA! I'm not REALLY a size 8-they've just made size 8's bigger". But then again, they must have been making size 24's bigger when i was wearing those too, so what's the difference?
I'd love to get down to a normal BMI-just to say that I did it. But I'm happy where I am. If i had the cash to nip and tuck, I'd be happier, but for now, I'm fine with how I look. I'm healthy, physically and mentally, and that's really what I hoped to accomplish.

This feels like a bad online dating message...lol..
Right now, I'm 38-30-37. I have absolutely no hips. If I could lose 4 more inches off my waist and just one off my hips, I'd be happy.
I seriously had to take pictures today to see what a size 8 looks like myself.. lol. So, glad you asked!
Here it is...
And the front, for perpective....

Charlee, I have a bra with metal adjustment things on the straps and they HURT when they press against my shoulder blades. I've always had a prominent bone structure. It was those shoulder blades that prompted my mom to take my then 3 year old butt to the doctor for something to fatten me up... how prophetic is that?

Nan,
I'm nowhere near the 180's but pretty close to you in age so I'll chime in. (I'm older). I hear you about the single digits. Afraid I'll look like I've melted onto my bones.
I think it's wonderful that you love what you see in the mirror. I'm worried that if/when I get to goal, I still won't be happy. So I'd say you are ahead of the game there.
One thing that concerns me is the 20# re-gain that many experience. When I get to my personal goal, should I try to reach my surgeon's gaol of 20# less in order to still be at "my" goal in a few years? Hope that makes sense.
Have you thought to lose another 10# or so to see what you'd look like? I guess that's the only way to know for sure where you'll lose it.
well, I like what I see in the mirror AS LONG AS I'M CLOTHED. Now, naked, is a little harder to swallow! But hell, at age 56, what can I hope for?
True, i was forgetting about the "bounceback." I wonder if that's for everybody or mostly those who hit a rock bottom weight?
Yes, I think I'll go down another 10 # and see what I look like. Easy enough to regain it if I don't like it,
thanks,
