Wound Vac and New Day - Birthday!

Not yo business OH
on 8/4/10 1:07 am
Ok, so yesterday was horrible.  After my Wound vac arrived, my nurse told me to unpack my wound and take a shower and that she would be at my house to hook me up.  I did all that while screaming!   I could see all the way down to what seemed to be my backbone!  I laid in bed and cried for about thirty minutes until she got here.

Well, good news.  The wound vac is pretty neat.  she cut the little pieces of foam and tucked them down in there, sealed it off and hooked me up.  It was kindof gross watching the fluid flow through the tube, but nice that it will no longer be on my clothes or bed sheets.  The most awsome thing about it is that it is like my wound is gone, hidden from the world.

It is a little cumbersome to carry this little bag around with me, I forget to grab it just about everytime I get up.  It sounds like a little coffee maker - it perculates.  It will be a little embarrassing to carry it into the soccer meeting we have tomorrow at my daughter's college, but oh well!

OH!  Did I mention I like to sleep late?  Well it is my B-day today and facebook by blackberry wakes you up every 5 minutes to let you know you have a birthday wish.  (From people you haven't heard from in years!)   Was slightly agrivated, but felt the love!

My youngest daughter made Ricotta Fluff for dessert for us today.  She put it in a vase and topped it with strawberries and blueberries.  Looks really good.  They also picked me up so hip clothes that I am affraid to try on.  The shirts are larges and the pants are 12 and 14.  Scared to death to even dream to get into them.  Thanks for all the support yesterday!  I was miserable!  T

Happy Birthday Terri!
Glad to hear you are getting used to your Wound Vac.  Read my blog, dear, you are not the only one to experience this.  The best part of the wound vac is that it works so fast!  You will be amazed.
Have a wonderful day....do something that you love to do just for you !

Happy Birthday!!!

I am SO glad the world is looking and feeling a little more positive today!

Does the wound vac also keep the smell contained?  That alone would be a blessing  :)

Mine is also a lot better this week and I finally feel that it will definitely heal!

Yesterday I just wanted to say go gentle on  yourself and don't beat yourself up for having the feeling that you do have.  On top of feeling crappy, no need to feel crappy About feeling crappy, yk?
I mean Anyone would feel crappy! In every way (physical, emotionally, mentally)
Well those wound vacs ARE cool .. I remember the first time I used one in the hospital. They DO work awesome & your wound WILL heal!
You are going to get through this and we are all right here with you!

Terri-
I hope this is the turning point for you and your healing.   I've been reading your ordeal and thinking of what a strong person you must be to have made it this long before having a bad day yesterday.  Me, I would be having meltdowns every hour on the hour.   You have been through so much, don't beat yourself up for acting human!

Happy Birthday!   Just think, this time next year all of the pain and suffering you have gone through will be a distant memory and you will be running around with your daughers in 'tiny sized hip' clothes.

Wishing you a fast and comfortable healing!
Kim
