It's supposed to fall out. Your surgery caused your hair's growth cycle to reboot itself and there is new hair pushing out the old. This goes on for a few months and stops. It's called Telogen Effluvium and is perfectly normal. Get yourself a makeover with some nice layers and texture to blend in the new growth as its coming in.
