Semi-OT Anti-aging skin care help?

I turned 50 right aft surgery in April. I've been fortunate in that I've never had 'problem' skin - no acne and only the occasional monthly blemish, When I hit mid-40s, my skin got a little dry, so I changed moisturizers and that took care of that. The only issue has been sensitivity. I have cast iron hide from the neck down, but my face is intolerant of so many products. Right now, I use Neutrogena cleanser, moisturizer & exfoliant for sensitive skin.

Since surgery, I've noticed some fine lines appearing. I don't think this is a dry skin issue but more of a weight loss issue. I've also found a few somethings on either side of my chin - whiteheads maybe? Not zits, not blackheads - they look like tiny pearls just under the skin. Once, one got red and I poked at it - got a microscopic translucent white bit out and that was it. Maybe a peel of some sort for this? Exfoliant 3-4 x weekly is NOT doing the trick.

I'm going to brave Dillard's makeup counter - Clinique probably. Any other suggestions? I'm open to drugstore brands to whatever's available at the mall or Sephora to online stuff.

I've been back on Retin-A in preparation for surgery. I think it well help during all the stages of change, and maybe everything will be as tight as possible once my weight loss is complete. Here's hoping anyway!

Is that an oral med? What 'zactly does it do systemically? Or is this topical? I grok the topical, just not the oral. Scuse my ignorance. :-)

It's topical. It is a vitamin A derivative. It basically makes the skin cells turnover faster, resulting in fewer fine lines, smaller pores, blemishes progress and heal faster. It helps clear up acne-prone skin as well.

I use Arbonne RE9 Advanced with excellent results.  Also used Mary Kay for many years with great results.

I've heard good things about Arbonne. I tried Mary Kay several years ago. Total skincare fail for me - hideous, itchy rash.

I can relate.  I lost a lot of weight in my face and now it is droppy and has lots of lines.  My sleep lines stay on my face for HOURS!  YUCK!

I went to Sephora the other day and asked them to put some make up on me because I was going to see my husband later and I hadn't seen him in 8 weeks.  When I was finished I looked in the mirror and I looked like an aging drag queen.  Apparently young beautiful skinned girl didn't know how to flatter deflated faced woman.

Normally my makeup wears off after a short time.  I needed a sand blaster to get the **** off.  I was embarrased to see people with it on.  Not pretty.

How about going for a good facial (I go to the beauty school and get a great deal).  They might be able to recommend some produts.  Sephora also supports multiple products so they can help as well.

It's worth a trip to the dermatologist!  They have all kinds of tricks these days!  Also, in my humble opinion, the best skin care products are by Perricone MD.  You can order them on line. They are not cheap, but your skin will thank you for it!

I've thought about that. By the time I try several OTC products, I could cover the copay 10 times over. LOL
I've seen the Perricone MD line but haven't heard from anyone who uses it. That good, eh?
