Anyone Know Anyone who has had the DS Reversed?

Maybe the restrictive portion of the surgery is all she needs or wants. They can reverse the malabsorption portion of the surgery can't they (since she is a self pay).  It doesn't mean she would regain her all of her weight back, she would just be living with the VSG?

Not enough long term studies on the VSG to convince me otherwise.

I had the full DS with a 150cm common channel and I'm still 20 lbs from goal.  I know without a shadow of a doubt I'd regain most of my weight if I didn't have malabsorption.

Not worth the risk of regain in my opinion.

Have you tried the protein "bullets"?

You have a history of depression and were treated with anti-depressants in the past. You are no longer on your cymbalta and yet admit you need it.
Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain.

Your DS was surgery on your intestines that many times worsens that chemical imbalance with the  rapid change in hormones. That is probably less of a problem for you at age 63 if you are post-menopausal and not taking replacement hormones.

Please get yourself to therapy or on medication. You can not expect your DS to improve your depression it was surgery on your gut not your brain.

Truly until you get your depression under control. It is no wonder you are struggling with eating.

You are doing great 75 lbs with only you estimated 100 to lose. Your diabetes is improved. You did not get the cure you were hoping for but an improvement is still medically better off than where you started at. It is the intestional part the malabsoption that was shown in Europe to improve the diabetes not the sleeve. They do the intestional bypass seperately there. So if your true motivation was to improve your diabetes then to reverse the intestional part would put you right back where you started.

So you do not like protein in the form of fatty meats (yep I looked at your history of posts) so how many of us eat would not be for you. Protein is medication for you so either you have to eat it in food form ( fish shrimp, protein powder)or you will need to drink it (you did find one your liked). Medically you would be on a low-carb  diet for your diabetes anyway so this will be no improvement if you reverse your malabsorptive portion of the DS.

Gratitude is my attitude

I know someone who had the intestinal portion of her DS reversed despite the fact her eating habits clearly showed her "bowel issues" were a direct result of her crappy diet.  The doc tried to talk her out of it and suggested lenghting her CC instead, fearing she'll regain her weight.  She wanted it her way.  It's been recent so the jury's still out.  I know I wouldn't do it!
