Costs for self payers.

I am looking to revise from Band to the DS.  I would be self pay and would prefer to stay in the US, but am willing to travel if necessary.  The local hospital here that does that surgery has been ruled out since they are beyond cost prohibitive(I was quoted about $100k)-if you don't mind sharing how much did you end up paying for your surgery, and where did you have it done?  If you traveled away from home, how long did you stay near your surgeon after your initial surgery?

I believe that Dr. Peters in PA runs around $20k for all costs and that going out of country can be a *****eaper.

Dr Peters was the first surgeon I spoke with and I really liked the price he gave as well as how informative he was.  Another Band to DS pt is going with Dr Stewart in Tx-I believe the rate for her was about 22k.

I'd prefer staying here in the states as it turns out all my fellow nurse friends that I thought I could convince to go to Mx with me are not being very supportive-skinny *****es!

I have posting here for a long time and in all of that time I have never read a negative comment about Dr. Peters -- not one!!!!!!!!!

I traveled to Brazil to Dr. Marchisini, I paid 15,000 for everything, surgery and hospital, airplane tickets for 2 and 2.5 weeks in a hotel, shopping, and food for me and my hubby.  It was  like a mini vacation, I would not have changed a thing.

disclaimer: this was 4 years ago, prices may have changed.

I'm having mine done in Montreal by Dr. Gagner. It's $21000 for me, including lapband removal. It includes 3 nights in hospital, and I have to spend 3-4 nights in a hotel nearby afterwards which I have to pay for myself. Good luck!

I paid $19,200 with Dr. Peters, and I stayed in town until two weeks from the day of surgery, which is longer than he requires. I didn't feel ready to travel till then.

Call Dr. Peters at 570-969-2527. Either he or his wife, who manages the practice, will answer the phone.

I talked to him a few weeks ago.  It totally threw me that he answered the phone.  Most docs have tons of staff, I guess keeping overhead low helps with keeping his prices reasonable.
