I need advice re: weakness
Listen to your body. If you are dizzy or light-headed, sit down (before you fall down). Because you had a pulmonary embolism, I'm sure you left the hospital with a spirometer. It's a really good idea to use that to keep from getting another embolism, even though you feel safe on the blood thinners. You originally GOT the PE while having anti-clot measures already in place.
I personally still have dizzy spells and weak knees which I will be addressing at my one year appt this month. I just sit down fast when I get dizzy, so I don't fall and hurt myself. I hate hospitals with an unusual passion and avoid them at all costs. I'm sure you feel the same way.

You don't want to stay in bed, you need to walk. You may be on blood thinners but if you dont' walk you are still putting yourself at risk for more blood clots. Even if you go for 10 minute walks every few hours, it will help - it adds up and every few days add 5 -10 minutes until you are up to 30 minutes per day. You will be amazed at how much energy you will have soon.
Jonathan,
I am struggling with this, too....but am 11 weeks out.
Since I had to take Motrin 4/day at 2 weeks out (setback #1) then had a painful throat infection at 1 mo out (setback #2) I haven't moved as much as I'd like or need to.
Pretty sure that started a vicious cycle of feeling bad, so I'd rest more, then felt bad because resting too much made me weaker - so I would rest more. Make sense?
Now I am going to force myself to exercise more - and every day!!! Even bought a pedometer to inspire me. :-)
Another thing I need to do is up my fluid intake. I do OK - but with the heat index well over 100* every day, I need extra fluids! Maybe you do, too.
Hope you feel better and stronger very soon!!! You've certainly been through the ringer....and it's time you were feeling GREAT! ((HUG))

Wow Jonathan, you know better! The blood thinners are a defense against clots but nothing replaces moving the blood yourself through your body. If you were in a hospital situation they'd not let you lay in bed because they'd given you blood thinners. Get to movin
