Dear Food,

I absolutely HATE you right now, and I know you are feeling the same way about me, hopefully one day we can be better friends....lol.

Ugh, I am at the point where I hate everything and the thought of putting a drop of food in my mouth makes me want to gag!!!  UGH!!!

Soup...nope.
Ricotta fluff...nope.
Faux Cheesecake...nope.

The only think that seems to not bother me right now is the insides, not the outside of fried chicken....and really I just can't stomach much more of it....been eating it for 2 days.

No vomiting, but gassy and bloated and a little nauseated here and there.

I have been trying to get all of my vites in, but they just don't want to seem to go down yet, too many just yet.  I have to figure out which ones that I need to absolutely have and start there, the rest will come as I can handle them.

I feel like a whiner complaining because so many others have had so many issues and complications, but I just need to vent somewhere.  No one else understands here, and all I hear from some people (not my hubby, he has been great!!!) is YOU CHOSE THIS.  Yeah, no **** and I am glad that I did,  and in a couple of weeks to a month I am going to be loving it, but right now, it is just a little hard....damn.  Why do people have to be so ignorant sometimes?

OK, done whining now....thanks all!!!

 Dear Dena,

Food will be your friend again.  When it does, it will take on a whole new meaning and enjoyment.  You will no longer have to feel guilty and overanalyze every bite you put in your mouth, or worry about what people think when you order extra dressing/butter/sour cream, ect.  Food will become your lifeline AND a source of enjoyment, and learning new ways of preparing it will become exciting and challenging.  Until then, yes, you have to pay your DS dues, so to speak.  I promise though, the dues are well worth it!  On a side note, are you on any type of reflux medication?  What you are mentioning reminds me of when my PPI isn't effective.  I've been suffering with it again this last week, and it's like being a brand new preop again.  I hope things improve and you turn that proverbial corner very soon.  Have you tried Wendy's chili?  Lots of cheese & sour cream and it was always an OK one by my tummy.

Sincerely,
Not far out enough to not remember how much the beginning sucks

I'm having some issues with food myself...

NOTHING sounds good to me... I just don't wanna eat!!

I eat because I force myself to eat,.. but it's not good!

I had MAJOR carb cravings yesterday... went into a gas station to pay for gas and was bombarded by Tornado's (mmm), and candy bars, and soda OH MY! What did I walk out with?? A cheese stick. I got home and ate a Breyer's carb control ice cream bar.

I think I'm currently in the mourning stage of food. I feel it's a huge paradox though...

I mourn the way I used to eat food, altho right now I couldn't eat any of the food I used to eat, even if I wanted to... so weird

We did choose this, but I think it's completely normal for us to feel this way about food and our new bodies.

Like E****** said, we must pay our DS dues... but we don't have to like it!!!!

You aren't suffering alone Dena!!  We WILL make it through this, and will be posting AW posts in no time!!!

Leslie,
If it makes you feel any better, those little Tornado buggers, if ingested (even at my late stage in the DS life cycle) will make you feel like you just sucked in the contents of a helium balloon and then forced to hold it in for hours and hours.    They are NOT worth it, LOL.....You did good, girl.
Are you feeling better?

That's good to know about the Tornado's... I'd never attempt them right now,.. but my head hunger still remembers how yummy they used to taste..

I am feeling better... I'm walking a bit faster,... I'm able to get up a bit easier... I'm still on pain meds, but nothing DS related... The rhabdo has really messed up my muscles... I sound like a broken record, but my legs, butt, and feet kill me,... even more so now because I'm becoming more and more active....

I still have loss of sensation on the left side of my back and butt... doc said it will take some time for it to come back...

I'm back to work part time,... so, I really can't complain... I'm thankful for life, and thankful that I'm not having any DS related issues (besides constant diarrhea, but from what I read that is common early post op- maybe I'm an odd ball, but I kinda like the Big D, I feel like I'm losing more weight having it lol)

I was talking to my Mom about you the other day (not in a scary stalker way)... Just about the pic you posted a bit back... and how you didn't have any excess skin from what I can tell.... What's your secret??

You sound like you've made great progress!    Now, describe constant diarrhea.....is it runny, watery, chained to the toilet diarrhea, or just loose stools and going more frequently?    If it's runny/watery/chained, then you should probably check that out because you could have a bacterial overgrowth.
Excess skin?   Ooooohhh I have plenty.   My legs are probably half loose skin.   If I had a lower body lift, there'd be nothing left of me, LOL.    Exercise has helped to a certain extent, maybe some genetics, because my dad is of a muscular, stockier build and I seem to have inherited that too.   Truly though, naked?  It's not pretty!

my stools are watery, I feel like I'm peeing out of my back end, it's really weird. They are really really dark in color. I'm not chained to the toilet, just go more frequently, and when I gotta go, I gotta go!! there is no holding it!

I am currently on a 2 week course of Flagyll, I have a day and a half left. Maybe that has something to do with it?  Should I be taking probiotics? Do probiotics inhibit weight loss?

As far as your excess skin... coulda fooled me!! You look fabulous!! My Dad is the muscular type as well, lets hope I have his genes too!

Flagyl will definitely produce the watery stools.   I've not taken flagyl, but I think someone posted just recently about taking it with probiotics...I can't remember what the consensus was.   Nope, probiotics do not inhibit weight loss, thankfully.
