I have been taking Omeprazole (Prilosec), I make sure I take it every day and Tums are also my best friend right now.  I know that I have to pay my dues and I know the future holds some great eats!!  I can't wait for that day!!  I think I may have to check in on some lactaid or something too.  I am sooo glad that everyone here understands it.  Oh, and yes, Wendy's Chili sits well too!  I just know if something is not going to sit right as soon as I taste it, too funny!!  I think that cream cheese is too much for me right now, and yogurt has been killing me.

Wendy's chili is a god send!! Although... the problem I have is once I eat something twice... I no longer want to eat it again    I never got sick of food so quickly pre op!!

And it's funny you mention yogurt, because seriously... I tried yogurt two days ago and I literally crapped my pants a few hours later, lol TMI but seriously, bad bad decision with the yogurt!!

Prilosec didn't do enough for me, and that may be what's going on for you as well.  It may be worth trying something else, like Nexium or Protonix or another RX PPI.  If you are having to take Tums, it's not doing you justice, and will inhibit your food/fluid intake.  If dairy is bothering you, you probably have developed some lactose intolerance, pretty common postop, especially early out.  I would just try to back off of dairy for a little bit, especially the soft cheeses and such, they can really be brutal.  I don't know that Lactaid would be very helpful this early out, unfortunately :(  I'm sorry you've hit a rough spot!  Take heart that every single one of us did at some point though, and it's normal. HUGS!

Leslie, the yogurt thing really stinks, especially since I love the taste of it!!!  Hopefully, it will change in the future some time!!!  I know,  I do love that I had the DS because I know what lies ahead for me!!!  It is just a little rough right now!!

E******grl, I think I will call the doc on monday to see if he will change my prilosec to nexium, I think the nexium tends to work better. I had to take it for a while after I had my gallbladder removed, it did wonders!!  And you are right, it does hinder my intake, but I do push as much as I possibly can!!!

I just want to be clear that I have absolutely no regrets with this surgery!!!  I just wish that the crap period went by a little faster. lol!!

This is a hard stage, I recall it pretty vividly, and each day was it's own little adventure as far as what sounded good (or in my case didn't sound good...which was everything).  I lived almost exclusively on Dannon lemon yogurt for many months.  My issue was food adversions.  The very thought of eating grossed me out.  I knew I had to eat, but ugh...I did try things, with varying success.  And when I could get something down me, after getting through the mental block, the next day I couldn't do it again.  Keep hanging in there.  Your right, in a month, maybe two, things will get better, and better, and then one day you'll realize hey, I can actually eat a variety of things!

I feel you girl. I am going through the same thing. Nothing sounds good at all. I wish that we could fast forward 2 months and feel better and be able to eat more of a variety of things. Oh well, par for the chorus right? I just take it a day at a time.

Hi Dena, I'm another one feeling your pain.  My problem is nausea.  I feel so sick all of the time that I can't get my fluids in.  I had to get IV fluids today for the second time post op.

Post op I could not tolerate regular milk and Lactaid milk has been a godsend since I make my protein shakes with "milk".  It  tastes just like regular milk.  I tried Silk soy milk but didn't like that.

I'd just love to know when this yucky period is going to end, for all of us currently not yet loving our DS.

Dear Dena,
I   you and I totally understand where you are coming from. I feel the same way right now. I am struggling with food and like you, I know I did this to myself but this is so much harder than I thought it would be. (emotionally)

I have been able to slow down my eating so I am not getting sick anymore but I feel like I am grazing all day long. A bite of this, a bite of that.... I cannot wait until I can get a small meal in rather than just a few bites. I cannot wait until something I "want" tastes as good as I remember.

Hang in there, we are all in this together! I know it will get better, it's just a matter of time.

hang in there, sweets!

ya know, i think it is the ketosis that makes you not want to look at food. Try and enjoy the great super fast weightloss... it will slow up. Ignore the haters who say crap to you. Don't talk to them anymore if they are a real problem or tell them how they make you feel. You need supporters around you, not haters.

Good luck and just remember that it does get better.
