Dear Food.....
I agree with E******food will be joyful again. I TASTE things more now and the freedom you have as a post-op makes you relish eating even more. However, I still have days that nothing sounds good to me, and like you, I'll think something tastes really good and three days later it tastes like crap. I will order a meal in a restaurant, all excited, and be disappointed at how it tastes. I'll open the cupboards and stare at them and NOTHING will sound good. Drives my poor husband out of his skull.

Thank you soooo much everyone for all of your posts!!! It makes me feel better to know that SOMEONE understands how I/we feel. I know that it is going to take its course, but I would not trade the DS for the world!!!! You are all so great and I am lucky to have you all to lean on and vice versa!!! It really means a lot!!
There are quite a few of you *****sponded feeling exactly the same way and there's the proof that it's just a stage. I remember reading about this back when I was going through it and the vets would say to enjoy the lack of hunger/desire while it lasted because it does go away. So in some ways, it's frustrating but in some ways, its a very cool temporary gift during your window.
And Julie, I LOVE your description of eating the tornado! (taking in helium and having to hold it) Oh my, that should be included in post-op reading material about flour tortillas, rice and white/sugar items, and for me sugar alcohols. That is exactly how it feels, and you don't have to do it many times to realize, it is NOT worth it.

when my tummy hurts, i eat a sugar free popsicle. I don't know why, but it always does the trick!!
my self-theory is that is "numbs" my tummy. LoL
some times when my tummy hurts, it's a signal that i need to eat something NOW... my tummy is very demanding! eating a small bit of something can do the trick as well

Try Gas X instead of the tums It may help. Don't force the vitamins to the point of nausea, you are not even one month out yet.
How about shrimp. I would buy cold shrimp, like 3 or 4, keep in fridge and i could eat like one half of one. hahaha, yesterday at 7 months, i ate 12.
i started using lactaid milk from the very beginning. i still use it. don't think i have lactose problem now, but does help a bit with the gas. i will try regular milk soon.
tuna with mayo??
deviled eggs, mom made them for me and i kept in fridge, they went down easy. Just take anything you eat slow.
Chicken was the hardest for me to tolerate. even still i have problems on and off, especially if i eat it too fast.
Fish, piled high with butter and some seasoning, cooked 400 or so for short time, then throw a slice of cheese on it. yummy too.
Good luck, every day gets better and better.
How far are you from Dr. greenbaums office??? i go to the support meetings each month and we have a great time AFTER the meeting at applebees or someplace for eats and laughter and networking. its nice. PM if you want.
