Oh Thank You GOD! I was so worried about her all day, and I am so releived that she is on the mend. PHEWWWW!  WHat a scary thing to go through!!

How common is it that people have this happen? It sounds so frightning!

From my months on the board, I would say that an obstruction is definitely uncommon, but yet MUCH more common than the general population.  Maybe up to 5% of us DSers end up with a BO at some point is my guess.  Probably maybe around 3% is more likely the case.  But, that's still much more common than the general population without DS's.

Of those who then have a BO, they are at an increased risk of having a second BO, even among DSers, but that's actually a very, very small overall % of total DSers.

Hugs to you Lisey.  What a scary thing to have to go through.  I'm glad you went to the ER and they took fast action.  Did they contact Dr. Ungson?  Thinking of you all always,   D..................

I didn't contact Ungson.  I couldn't find my post-op report.  BAD LISEY.  I was pretty sure I knew where it was & asked my mom to get it, but she said she couldn't find it.  I considered going to look for it, but I was in so much pain & wanted to get to the ER so badly ASAP that I literally said, "screw it" in my head.  Maybe not the best decision.  What would have been best is to know definitively exactly where that sucker was located with zero looking.  Another lesson to be learned . . .

What a relief to know Lisey is in good hands and is now on the mend!

Scary stuff - I've learned a lot from reading Lisey's post and all the replies (there and here).
