Bowel Obstruction Update - by Lisey herself!

Oh Lisey thank god you're okay.  I'm so happy you found a hospital with a DS surgeon on call. 

Lisey - I am so glad you are up and posting.  I was very VERY worried about you.

I missed all this over the weekend--WOW, and not in a good way.

I'm so, so glad you are still with us and able to post, to boot. Take extra good care of yourself, OK? No relapses or hernias for you, you hear?

You had us all scared. I had a pain in my abdomen last night and your story got me in a panic. I woke my hubby up and told him (for the millionth time) that if I go to the ER, I need them to do a CT with contrast!!!

Lisey,  Thank God you are OK.  It sucks that our surgeon is so far away and we really  have to fend for ourselves. You did find a ds doc in your neck of the woods and that was some kind of miracle in itself.  Angels are looking over you. 

Rest up Lisey - do what you need to do to get strong again.

I'm soo glad you are okay!  Bowel Obstructions are not fun!  Worst pain ever!  Rest up, and take it slowly for the new few weeks!

It DID hurt a lot!  Crazy as it sounds, though, & I know you know from your own BO experience, I kept thinking to myself . . . am I just over-blowing the pain?  Am I making a big "to-do" about something that's really not that big of a deal?  Maybe it's just the stomach flu & I need to let it go 48 hrs . .. all these things were going through my head.  I think a lot of it had to  do with my fear of the medical bills given I don't have insurance.  I should have gone in Thurs to emergency right away &, frankly, purposely decided to go to urgent care instead on Thur b/c I figured it would be a little cheaper than the emergency room visit.  As it turned out, that decision almost turned out VERY badly for me on a health-level (like living vs dead vs colostomy bag) AND more expensive in the long-run b/c I ended up in emergency anyways!!!  Now I have both bills to pay.  I am totally still grateful to be here, just feeling overwhelmed by the future.  Thanks for your concern, Brok!

I agree that I think it would be best to wait 2 wks to go back to work.  I'm always warring with the financial/practical side of myself & trying to balance it with health, but you know what?? In the end, decisions ALWAYS should be driven by health concerns, not monetary ones.

I'll wait 2 weeks :)

I really like perkosets right now.  My back freakin hurts & already feels like 10 times better after getting up, eating, & taking my little white pill.
