I had that problem when I lost some with my old crapband. It turned out to be pyraformis (sp?) muscle problems...those are the muscles in your hip/butt. I got hot stone massages, embarrassing yes...helpfull...god yes! I still do stretches that help. Half way cross your legs (put your right foot on your left knee) while sitting, and lean forward. It will stretch all of those muscles in your hip and butt. Switch sides and repeat until. Hope that helps your pain in the ass.
Same problem here. Not just butt ...its all bony areas...knees, elbows, shoulders and sometimes even my breast bone from my bra.
I carry a seat cushion all the time and go braless alot LOL. I will trade being SMO for boniness anyday!

I cracked my tailbone in college and I think mine is protruding more than a normal one and ouch! It hurts me all the time. I was told if I get back to running and build up my butt muscles again that this will help. We'll see.
But yep - mine hurts even on the couch.

Mine is currently the bane of my existance. In fact, I may be experiencing a kind of domino effect from my tailbone pain. Not only is my tailbone painful no matter where I sit, I have pain in my sacrum (just above the tailbone) and in the L5-S1 joint (just above the sacrum). I have been in physical therapy for months to strengthen the surrounding muscles so that there is maximum support for that region and I have recently had a second set of injections for the tailbone and for the sacroiliac joint. Up next will be an epidural injection for the other joint. All of this in an attempt to quiet down the awful pain that this has all caused. Ugh.
Sitting on firm surfaces is toughest, but even soft surfaces like the couch don't help much. When I drive I sit on a ****yx cushion and that makes it easier to drive without having to shift positions quite so much or get out to walk every so often.

Uh oh
I am sorry to hear that some of you are having some real problems with this as well.. GRRR
Ooooh I may need to check out that pillow!
JessZoo of course I remember you!! LoL, you are doing awesome ~ what a ride, huh?
Yes..! It's not just the tailbone it is inside knees but mostly sitting is the current problem. I am also hoping if I work on building the muscles in my butt that might help?
Julie.. yes the loose skin in there big time, at times I feel like I am sitting on the stuff like it has a life of it's own. When I sit in the car it Does feel like I am sitting on something. but it's my ass all bunched up and me sitting on it wth??!!
I am hoping my butt will toughen up LOL!!
It has to .. or I will have to learn to be a lot more protective of that area. One or the other .. sigh

Ok I either watched this on Big Medicine or Plastic Surgery Before and After. I woman had always been large and she had just recently and quickly lost all her weight. She had this same problem, ended up she had and extra long tail bone and they went in and removed about an inch of bone so she could sit comfortably.
In no way am I saying we all have this, there can not be that many people born devilish
that had the same surgery. But I am 4 months out and my but hurts constantly.

Okay .. so Sharon, your doesn't hurt anymore? All gone.. LOL. Was it the flap grafts that helped or do you think just the passage of time.
Also I thought the butt flaps were placed at the TOP of your bottocks to improve the contour (using the fat excised from your lower back). I wouldn't think that would cover the tailbone? But maybe it would?!
Okay this is wierd because I first noticed this awhile back. Say 3, 4 months ago not sure exactly. We drove up to Santa Maria from Moreno Valley (All day trip) and my butt was killing me the whole time.
By the time we attended a church service that evening I was literally in pain.
The whole weekend. That was my first memory of this coming on.
Now Here is the wierd part. I have previously lost 100 lbs by Optifast protein shakes and dieting and such.
Of course I did lose a ton of weight and this did Not happen. Now to be fair I got down to around 160 lbs, but still! You would think it would have happened. Plus I notice it happens to many of you Along the way of weight loss, way before reaching goal.
so I am wondering if it just has to do with some different factors LOL
Oh well! I do find it curious? Also when I was younger and thinner (thin) I used to sit on my tailbone and it never hurt.
I think in *my* case my bone has been protected for a LOOONNNNGGG time and just isn't used to it. period.
It's totally worth it anyways!! Totally :) I will work around it LOL
