Dealing with grief when you can't self-soothe with carbs
This is the roughest day I've had since I had my DS. I guess I should be glad I've had an easy year.
I had to take my little foster dog to be euthanized today and I just want to soothe myself. I don't know how to do that. I've learned no new coping mechanisms.
So I'm going shopping but that just doesn't seem to be what the hole in my heart is asking for. Cinnamon buns, circus peanuts, twizzlers, and sugar wafers.
I am always going to be the fat girl, even in these size fours, huh?

I'm sorry you had to let your little one go, that must have been so hard.
I lost my ****atiel earlier this year and right now one of our dogs is very ill and is in emergency care for the 2nd time in a few weeks. I understand what you are saying completely..it's hard to not turn to our old comforts but it's good that you're trying to replace the habit.
Thinking of you.

I'm sorry, Becky. Those little furry darlin's sure burrow deeply into our hearts. And we do love them so. Take care, dear one.

Becky,
I'm so, so sorry. My heart just breaks for you. ((((HUGS))))
Being a self-soother (with sweets) I understand where you're coming from.....but this is your opportunity to find something else to "fill the void". How can we learn new coping mechanisms until we need to cope?
Talk with a friend or friends (or go out with them!), rent a funny movie (or a tear jerker, if you need a good cry), read a great book .... just some ideas. :-)
XOXO,
Julie
