1 year out today w/pics -and ramblings
Hi all, today is my 1 year surgeversary. I started this journey out at 252 pounds and today am 146 pounds. I am so grateful for the DS, it has opened my eyes to life. I am more active with my kids and am able to do more. I am no longer ashamed of how I look. I do get embarrassed easily because I don't know how to take compliments very well. Being married for 16 years and getting compliments from women and sometime**** on by men is so awkward. It is something I am trying to get used to. I still have a hard time "seeing" the smaller version of me that everybody else sees.
My surgery went well and my recovery was very uneventful. I returned to work in a couple weeks and didn't have any problems. I was hospitalized for about a month in February this year for pancreatitis. I also had some gall sludge so they removed my gall bladder and my liver ducts were blocked so I had to have a tube put in at that time too. It was a hard month and I ended up taking another month off work just to heal and get back. After that, things have been back to normal.
My labs are good, I am still working on tweaking my vites to get to where I need. I thought I would have great labs and figure it all out by my one year, but no luck. Nothing is horrible, but I can definitely do better in some areas.
My tummy is pretty forgiving. The only thing I have ever eaten that I regretted because I got bloated and diarrhea was cake. If I have a craving for something, I will take a bite of it. If not, I will go nuts and just obsess over it. I am not perfect and do not always make the best choices, but I am not going to beat myself up over it either. I have taken a bite of my kid's brownies or taken a chip, but it sure isn't habit. The only thing I track is my protein. During the weekday, I tend to drink a lot of protein shakes because we aren't allowed to have food at our desks, but we can have drinks. This is the easiest way for me to get all my protein in.
My weightloss has been good in my eyes. My doc never gave me a goal weight. I am just happy to be healthy. I used to get on the scale everyday and stress over every pound, but that took up too much energy. I just try to weigh every week so I can track my weight.
My body runs like clockwork when it comes to the bathroom. I go once a day within an hour of waking up. I don't have constipation or diarrhea issues and am not gassy. (For all those pre-ops or lurkers who may read all DS'ers have bathroom issues.) I do get gassy if I eat certain things. I love banana chips, but I know those make me gassy so I try not to eat those.
Gosh, I do ramble quite a bit. Thanks for reading. Now for the pics. I haven't posted pics much so hopefully this works:
(Edited to add pics. Hopefully this works.)
