Flu shots, anyone?
I think I am due for a pneumonia shot, I need to check with PCP as she has the record, it does last for a few years. Check with your PCP if your not sure whether to get it or not,. but sounds like you would be a good candidate.

Funny this came up.....Friday I woke up with pink eye and hightailed it down to Minute Clinic to get a script and excuse for work (very big no-no to work in a hospital with the dreaded pink eye) in the 5:30 evening traffic. The awesome NP and I talked for a while, she asked about my meds/supplements and then asked 'why' when I told her. Her reply to that was very odd to me at the time. She asked if I'd had my flu and pneumonia shots since they were so important to use now. Well, I had my flu shot this week and I'm not due for pnemonia til next year, so I was good. It also had me thinking that I can't really remember even having a cold since I had my surgery.
As I'm sure someone has already pointed out, the flu vaccine is not a live virus, but some people swear it makes them ill. It never has me, but I don't discount anyone's opinion.
I don't think your surgery date really is a factor on getting the vaccine, I think you did the right thing. Do you need the pneumonia vaccine? That one's up to you. I take it because I'm in healthcare and I used to get pneumonia/bronchitis once or twice a year.
Hope you feel better soon!

And while we're at it, for those of us who are "ole enough," add the shingles vaccine as well.
My sister has ben dealing with that crap for MONTHS now and it is just horrid. Hers is nothing like THESE--caution...GRAPHIC--but it is bad enough:

I suppose you'd happen to know how old is old enough?
ETA: I did have chicken pox as a kid, but only a few spots. I had to be tested a few years ago (when I did my student teaching in college) to be sure that I had the immunities for the varicella. The test showed that I did have them, so my chances of getting the pox again are very low. Nobody said anything about the odds of me getting shingles, though.
