Are you taking your calcium? Are you eating more carbs than normal?

Yes, I regularly take my Calcium, not perfect, but my labs are ok.  Have been taking them alot better over the past month.  Have also cut my carbs way down over the past month.  It has happened a couple of other times in the past, but they were the first couple of months after I had the DS.

My triggers seem to be tomato sauce and sausage. Also, it also seems to me that my monthly cycle has a lot to do with it for me as well. I am sorry that you are having problems and i hope that some of the vets have some answers for you.

Im not sure about any food trigger for me, but I will agree that the couple of times it happened was right before a cycle, but most cycles nothing happened..so I am  not sure if its just a coincidence.

It's likely the increase in the fat in your diet.  A few tips- remember to NEVER trust a fart, always get up and go to the WC for them.  Wear an "overnight" panty liner with wings to bed to catch anything.  Try cutting back on the fats just a smidge- don't use butter to fry your egg or add extra fat to anything.  Make sure to take ALL your calcium and iron- those both firm things up.  Make sure you completely empty your bowels everyday- give yourself plenty of time to poo whenever your time is.  Hope these tips help.  I can imagine this would weigh heavy on you and make restful sleep difficult.

Now im confused...  I have been trying to add fat and protein to my diet, and now I take it back out?

You want to add protein, this will inevitably add more fat, as good dense food protein sources also have fat in them.  But, if you are having problems with leaking and loose unpredictable bowels, the fat could be the culprit.  Something we call "oil slicks" around here, where basically, the fat you don't absorb just comes out in an oily liquid form.  Fat is a "free food" for us since we don't absorb it, but it doesn't do anything to help with weight loss per say.  So, since you are having the issues, try cutting back on any added fats (such as oil, butter, sour cream, heavy cream, ect****il the issue resolves.  It's a fine line between enough to keep from being constipated and getting so much your body just excretes it in liquid form.

I'll bet you get a lot of opinions about what to do about this, but I've never seen anything that's a for sure cause or fix. I've never had any problems like it, so I'm not going to say I know how you feel or what you should do. But the things I know about that would help are:

1. Start eating some Chia seeds with your food. From all reports, this really firms up your stool.

2. Eat plenty of protein and enough fat for your needs. I know some will advise you to cut the fat, but I think that's a bad idea; you need the fat.

3. Eat some fiber with every meal and cut the processed foods.

4. Take some Ferrous Iron. It's useless in helping you get more Iron in your blood, but many report it makes their poop turn into green bricks.

If none of those things work; better talk to your surgeon.
