6 Month Post-Op Update!!!
Hey All!
It's been a long time since I've posted here and I apologize for that. I remember pre-op getting frustrated with people who wouldn't post updates and would dismiss it as life being too busy now that they are thinner, etc. Well, I can't believe it, but it's pretty much true for me. I, however, would love to contribute more often.
I believe my last post was actually a 3 month update. I was going through a pretty tough time at that point and was really struggling with horrid heartburn and acid reflux. All of that is pretty much under control now.
I've lost 164 lbs in 6 months! WOW! That shocks me to type that. I'm down to 219 from 383. Down from a size 58 pants to a 36. XXXL shirt to a L. I'm very shocked to find that loose skin isn't really an issue for me. The surgeon told me that it might not be because of my age and he was right.
I can't really explain how different life is now. My confidence is off the charts and my energy levels make me feel like I'm 18 again (just turned 31). I couldn't be happier. At 2-3 months out I was struggling with the surgery because I had such a bad heartburn issue. Now, I never second guess it.
My days are pretty much the same. I struggle to eat anything of substance at breakfast and usually eat a Greek yogurt. Lunch is easy and my default is a Jimmy John's unwich. I can eat like a mad man by dinner. Usually a steak, chili, chicken, salmon, etc. I actually ate a 3/4 lb steak for dinner last night.
I don't ever crave carbs... at all. At about 2 months out I did a lot of "exploring" and pushed the limits with carbs. I learned my lesson. Chips, bread, pasta, etc are all WAY off limits. I have a massive aversion to them and never even think about them. So, this makes life very easy.
I love my DS. I never thought I'd say that 3 months ago, but I do. I'm going to lose about 30 more lbs and at 6 feet tall that would put me at about 180 and in the "normal" weight BMI. This should happen in about 2 months or so if I continue to lose at the same weight.
Life is sooo good. I've never been so happy and my marriage is awesome. We've got a 7 1/2 month old son who is the light of my life and things are only getting better. If you're thinking about the DS... do it! You'll never regret it!

Wow! That is an awesome post. By my calculations, you lost close to a quarter pound just in the time it took to type this update! Keep up the great work! I'm so glad you did this. Enjoy your lovely family because it sounds like you're going to be around a long time! Keep us updated when time allows! Congrats!
