The Devrom Scam and Gas

Ok I've been MIA for the most part for the last several months...lurking here and there, and I can't believe that I'm seeing people regularly recommend Devrom.

For newbies out there, let me just tell you ...save your money. It doesn't work for most people and for those that it does give a bit of relief, it's normally short lived. If you want the results of Devrom...you can try pepto bismo....it's basically the same thing at about 1/8 of the price. But do not take it with vitamins, and again long term, it might not be the best thing for you.

The best things to do for gas:

1) Eliminate things that cause gas from your diet (for example dairy and sugar alcohols)
2) Stay regular. You should basically know how much you "output" everyday. I've noticed that sometimes I get "constipated" but not in the normal sense of the word...when out put drops, I take action!!! I make sure that I increase my fiber...water....magnesium oxide. Whatever I need to do to get things flowing again (if ya know what i mean). It's important to take your morning poo....I try not to leave the house until I do (hahahaha...no pun intended). Sometimes it's necessary to resort to suppositories.
3) I found that most probiotics make me gassy, so I don't take them. It's a YMMV thing. If you're going to find one that works, it's going to be the more expensive ones such as primal defense.
4) When needed, I take a course of flagyl. I use to take a "maintenance" dose, but found that it was unnecessary and that taking a course when needed worked just fine.
5) at night I use an air purifier (actually it's an ozone generator)....it works fantastic...and keeps the air smelling crisp....because we all know you can't clench in your sleep...lol.

Hope this helps...again my goal is to get newbies to stop listening to advice that will cause you to waste your money...and time.

You should know if you complain to Dr. Roslin about gas, that's what he'll tell you to take!!!! It affects vitamin absorption...same with activated charcoal and chlorophyll tablets.

I don't think it's a scam if it works. It has worked for me as long as I have used it. It wasn't short lived. And I am not the only one here that it has worked for. It is a product used by those with ostomies and many of them seem to find it effective. Now, I agree that modifying your diet can go a long way towards eliminating the need for the product, but, IMHO, it is certainly worth a try for those still trying to work out what is causing their gas and odor.

As for interfering with supplements. Just don't take it at the same time as your vitamins. I would like to also see the references for the claim that it interferes with supplements. The only thing I have been able to find is that it could interfere with antibiotics, Polyvalent Cations/Eltrombopag, or Di-; Trivalent Cations/Chloroquine; Hydroxychloroquine.

I am a little surprised by the claim that I, or others, are purposely dispensing advice that would waste someone's time and money. I do try to use the proper disclaimer that it may not work for everybody... but the fact is that it is indeed effective for some. Up to them to decide whether they want to try it or not.

I've talked to a lot of people post op....the stuff doesn't work for most people. You're right, it's up to the individual to try it, but they might as well buy "fart proof" panties for all the good it will do for them.

If they want a "magic" pill, they are better off trying a probiotic or flagyl. If you feel convicted that you are telling people to waste their money because you are not giving proper disclaimers...that's on you. Several posts I've reviewed do not have any type of disclaimer....such as...this product doesn't work for most people, but hey it might work for you....you might also want to try rubbing a Buddha's belly and looking for a 4 leaf clover and winning the lotto while you're at it.

Well, then, I will make more effort to make the proper disclaimers whenever I recommend it.

However, the fact is, that it does indeed work for some people. Just because a few (it works both ways) feel that it does not work for them does not negate the fact that it does work for other people. So, you cannot make the claim that it is only as effective as "rubbing a Buddha's belly" or "looking for a 4 leaf clover and winning the lotto."

To make broad sweeping statements with your opinion that the product doesn't work and calling it a scam is just as irresponsible as someone claiming that it is 100% effective for anyone who tries it. Maybe you need to make the proper, polite, disclaimers for your statements also?

Ecoquest living air purifier....they are 1000 dollars new, but I got mine through ebay for under 100 dollars. You might also want to buy an extra ozone plate when you buy your unit. They are cheap and make the unit much more effective.

I do not use it all the time, just at nights. Disclaimer: Ozone may not be healthy for all people, if you have respiratory issues, you might want to try a different type of purifier. I use to have a filter type of purifier, but it didn't work at all.....yes it removed dust...but big woop. It's removing smells that really count.

On the journey to losing weight, your friends & family will be the first people to try to knock you off. They do this not out spite, but out of being convicted and knowing they should do the same. It's easier to put someone down for doing the right thing, than for them to actually do it. So at your next family re-union or wherever you are eat your chicken and broccoli and smile when they make jokes about you, they are jealous!
