It starts out with rumble guts, and then goes to the very painful, pregnant belly gas. If I barely put enough in to slightly flavor the water, it's not so bad, but using it full strength makes for a miserable day. Splenda (knock on wood) doesn't seem to bother me at all. I'll give these a try and see what happens. Those little bottles would be really easy to carry in my lunch box!
I really bet it's the magnesium oxide or the maltodextrin that is bothering you. Maltodextrin is the powder in splenda (and other sweetners) that bulks up the product so it's easy to see and measure.
I think you'll have better luck (in all areas) with a liquid sweetener. You can buy liquid saccharin/sweet n low too for coffee or yogurt or whatever else you want to sweeten.
You might also like the True Lemon/True Lime/True Orange packets. In my grocery store they sell them right with the instant powders, but I think I have also seen them on the baking aisle. It's basically just crystallized citrus fruit, not very strong at all...kinda like just squeezing a lemon wedge in your water.
