I can't stand water! Help.
Plain water is making me gag. I overdosed on crystal light and now can't stand the aftertaste of it. So the past week I've been drinking my new fav drink, Gatorade! However, while it may be helping me stay hydrated, I think I'm retaining water from the sodium in it. This morning my feet were a little swollen, and I had a little pain when I first woke up that hinted of urinary tract pain. So I'm pretty sure sthat I've got to get off of the gatorade. What else can I drink?
one thing you can try is drinking the water at different temperatures. before surgery i LOVED ice water, the colder the better. right after surgery i couldnt touch it. not only did it make me gag but it also hurt my stomach. i started drinking my water at room temperature and was fine. i only had to do this for a couple of months. hot decaf tea was really my go-to right after surgery. it was very soothing to my new stomach.

Plain water made me nauseous early post-op. I drank Crystal Light (or generic brands). If you're finding an issue with aftertaste, try using a sugar-free drink mix that uses a different sweetener, as some use Splenda, some use aspartame, etc.
I wish I could be more helpful, but I actually ended up dehydrated about a month post-op :o

Water just didn't do it for me immediately post-op either, even though I drank lots of plain water before surgery.
Anything cold was very tough for me. I found warm/hot liquids to work much better. Chicken broth was amazing.
Stay off the gatorade. The last thing you need to do is drink a bunch of sugar.

I also struggled with water post-op, and I loved water pre-op. I tried different temperatures, but what really helped was trying a different brand of bottled water. The water from CostCo tasted metallic to me, which it had not done pre-op, but other brands went better.
And after a few months, I was able to go back to the CostCo water without a problem. So just keep trying because it's imperative that you stay well hydrated.
