Bowel obstruction and recovery
So glad you are ok. Can I ask if you had any prior symptoms or how you knew it wasnt just gas?
I went to the ER/Urgent Care tonight because I was worried about Bowel Obstruction. My gas pains felt like labor pains right above my belly button and nothing I did or took helped. I had this exactly a week ago and suffered in pain. I am also not going potty as I used to but I am pretty sure its due to the Iron but even with a stool softner and lax I still am barely going.
I went in and had blood work, x rays and they said all looks fine and that it might be my gallbladder. I said I thought this would be rare because of where my pain was and because I did have gallbladder pain a while back and had ct scans and u/s's and all was ok. Since they were closing they told me to go to the real ER tomorrow if I was still in pain. I am still in pain because they did nothing for me and I dont know if its simply gas or not.
Anyhow I am so glad all worked out for you!

Call your DS Dr. IMMEDIATELY!!! That is EXACTLY how mine started. I had the pains in a lighter version two weeks prior. The local hospital thought gall bladder also, and my blood work was fine. Call your DR. and get back to the ER immediately. I am not kidding. Good luck to you. Please let me know how it goes...
sorry to hear about what happen to you. well i had open rny in 2000. this past sunday after dinner i had bad stomach ache i drinked some citrate magnesium and i was running off with the same pain. then through the middle of the night i woke up an took 2 stool softners and the pain still ws there. the next day i drank water and wanted to fall to my knees. the stool softners didnt work so i went on with my day in pain without eating anything tryn to make myself throw up or either have a bowel move. after my kids got out of school i barely made it to the er. while waiting i vomit twice. once i was seen, within the next hour they did blood work and cat scan. then i was told i wouldbe staying. because i have blockage which is bowel obstruction. they stuck that tube down my throat and gave me a room and told me they need to drain my stomach to see if i need surgery. so after three days of this tube being down my throat, draining my stomach until its empty and giving me blood thinning shots and taking more blood. they said i dont need the surgery and this ill cure itself. on day four they give me broth and jello for luch and dinner ith sierra mist and tea. my menstrual cycle also started on this day. then day five i had a solid breakfast and was release without surgery. should i be worried this will come back. also my weight was up fifteen pounds after this which i was in shock after eating nothing four days. i know my cycle only add 3lbs a month to my weight. but i notice my feet, hands and legs were swollen at the time i left the hospital. but i wanted to know should i follow up on this, with my pcp what would i tell them. or just stay on soft foods and clear liquids for the next month. because they insist this ha nothing to do with me having the wls long ago because it would have shown up by now.
