OT - Finally got a professional job & moving to MO!
Thank God. Quitting working for the restaurant in WI, moving to MO to be a counselor/academic advisor at a university. It doesn't pay that much for requiring a M.A., but I need the experience to start a career in that area, which was my goal since deciding not to become a therapist.
Any DSer's in the tri-state area of OK, KS, MO?? I'm right there!!!!
My significant other said he wants to finish up his courswork for his Ph.D. and then he will move down here in May 2012 if all goes well with me here . . . and I guess, with us. We think we're "the ones" for each other, so I guess this is our test. His classes are structured in 10 wk terms & then he has off for 3 wks, so he can come visit me for a couple of wks once every 3 months, basically. I think it's doable if we are "the ones" . . .
I'm happy to report that I have his & my family's support in moving here, they understand how important it is to me to get a job using my degree to start a career vs simply getting any job that will pay my bills and give me benefits. That's what my BF's dad thinks I should do - & just wait for Stephen/ BF to get done with school & he will support us both. My sentiment? I went to school way too long to simply give up & be the office girl I was prior to going to school for damn near a decade. I'm glad he's the only one who's not supportive, I can live with that!

My son is still working on his PhD at UC Berkeley, but they are getting married this summer, and she has lived out there now for two years. I am so proud of them for making it work, and if it's meant to be, you can do the same!

HUGE congrats Lisey. I think you are making a really good choice, to get yourself on a professional path after all that education. I'm so happy for you. I hope you LOVE the job so that the weeks inbetween BF visits feel short.
I can't wait to hear more about your new job. It sounds very exciting.
