I'm just curious to see other peoples weight loss experiences with the DS.  I'm really excited to get mine and I know everybody looses differently, but I want to know what it's been like for you.  I meet with my surgeon next week!  Woot Woot!!

Hey!  Congrats on meeting with your surgeon.  How exciting...

As far as weight loss, check out the Duodenal Switch Lab Rat Data.  It has tons of peoples weightloss histories.  I'm on there too!  Have fun!

I was a lightweight to begin with, so my results will be different than others'.  I had surgery 8-11-10, and today, I'm only nine pounds from my goal of 120lbs.  I'm sure I'd already be at goal, but I've been toying with complex carbs to see how much I can eat to maintain and not gain weight.

I started at 344 pounds  (I am 5'6") and within 15 months, I was at 155 pounds, at the tippy end of a "normal BMI," which was my goal. That was a loss of 189 pounds. I lost a few more pounds and sit at about 145-150 pounds now.

Good luck!

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!

I'm 5'4" and 305. I'm hoping to loose 10% in the next 90 days before surgery.

Thanks for sharing guys and thanks for the lab rat link too.

I had surgery May 24, 2010.  I am now just about 7lbs from the goal I set for myself (my surgeon doesn't set goals), which is 165, putting me right in the middle of the normal BMI range.  I hit normal BMI at 10 months out.

I hit a normal BMI of 145 at eight months, and I considered that goal enough.  I'm now about twenty pounds (sometimes fifteen at various times of the month) below that.

I'm 9 months out and 1 pound from my doctor's goal for me. I have 16 more pounds until I reach my goal (of a normal BMI).
