Calling two part DSers or VSG to DS revisions

How soon before you could start talking 2nd half?  I know that I'm pretty early out from my VSG, I had it on March 8th.  But I have a feeling that I'll have quite a process to go through with insurance that may take a while.  So I thought, why not start the process now, and by the time I win an appeal, I'll be healed enough to have the 2nd part of my DS.

My insurance approves the DS as one or a two part surgery.  I had the first part last July, and my surgeon said 6 mos.  When I went for my 6 mos. followup, the surgeon gave me the green light..I could have done it at the 6 mos. mark, but I had vacation and other life events and needed a couple of months..I will be going for the 2nd half tomorrow, 9 mos. after.

Thanks, and congratulations! Did you lose alot of weight during the 6 months? Obviously not so much that your surgeon doesn't want to operate, but were you at any risk of not getting the 2nd half due to how much you'd already loss?

No, I only lost 30 lbs and I am still MO.  I knew I needed the second part but due to scar tissue from a lap band (revision from lap to ds), the surgery was in two parts.

Hi Calena!

I will be having a VSG and I've really been curious about why it does not work to produce much or no weight loss in some people.  If you would be so kind to share, why do you think that you didn't lose much?

Thank you,
Leila

I had to wait a year.  But that wasn't a big deal, believe it or not.

When I woke up from surgery I was told three to six months but it's looking closer to ten...
