Swing some chickens for Lynn B- exploratory Surgery ***UPDATE***
My niece, Lynn Bee, is having an exploratory surgery tomorrow (Tuesday) in NYC with Dr. Pomp. She's a DS'er from years back....5 or 6 years by now... she's had every complication you can imagine.... underwent a revision..... (Pomp was not the original DS surgeon.... he did her revision and is following her now)...both surgeons were vetted and had done DS'ers with much success. She's the poster child for compliance with diet, supplements, etc.... yet, she can't seem to eat anything but meat/fish, almonds made into flour, paste, milk, etc.... and not much else... no dairy, no fruits, very few veggies, etc.... the revision hasn't seem to make much difference. She's constantly in the hospital for bowel twists, blockages, etc.... She graduated from school 2 years ago, and has been working hard and doing well. The rest of life is going VERY well, if we could just get her healthy!!!!! It would be golden!
Swing some chickens, say some prayers, send some good thoughts to my girl..... she doesn't log on here often, but some of you may still remember her! Pomp did wonders with Melody, maybe good lightening can strike twice! Mary C (the proudest Aunt of Lynn Bee)\\
WEdnesday******** Lynn Bee was operated on around 10am. Dr. Pomp started lap, but wound up small open.... he found no hernias, etc....found adhesions and scar tissue.... cleaned up what he could and that's that.... he was cautious and said he wasn't sure it would change too much.... she had a VERY painful time in the PACU, with an itchy rash from the pain meds, and their apparant lack of ability to medicate for the itch AND the pain at the same time, despite our 'helpful' hints of what has worked in the past. She got into her room about 11pm, and I stayed until about 2:30. She was dosing off and on, and the itchy seemed controlled...of course, by 3 or so, after I was gone, she was awake, in pain, and scratching like there was no tomorrow! They kept telling her someone would come and see her to change the meds...but no one did. Her Mom got there about 8am, and after contacting the patient advocate, things changed!! They got a pain specialist who changed her from I/V Dilaudid to I/V Fentanyl....got her anti itch meds, etc, etc.... according to them, they had been 'working' on it when the advocate contacted them....right... yeah.... so, today was a little better, maybe the I/V, and catheters will come out tomorrow! she's trudging up and down the hallways, using the incentive spirometer, etc... and hoping for the cure... thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers.... she and I really appreciate it! Post more news when I see her tomorrow! Mary
