Good Evening Everyone!

First I want to say thank you to all who have put up with all my Q's and have been so supportive.  Since so much of the info. I've gotten from my surgeon has been a little off mark, I'd like to clarify some things. I've already changed my vitamins to an adult multivite and calcium citrate instead of carbonate.

Drinking
I've been told not to drink 30 min before or 30 minutes after eating is this accurate for DS too.

Vitamins and Pills
Dr. says only Chewables, liquids, or cut pills to extra small. Recently someone here told me I can swallow whatever I can swallow.  This is GREAT news.  I am less than one month out is this still applicable? Do the pills and vites stay in the stomach until they dissolve?

Apparently Clueless.

The drinking restriction is for RNY's. I was swallowing pills by about 2 weeks out.

WOOO HOOO!!! I was hoping you'd say that.  I'd much rather swallow my pills that chew them.
Drinking with meals won't sabatosh anything, Like washing the food through?

The drinking thing doens't apply to us DSers. You can drink and eat at the same time. Though since you are so early out, you might not have a lot of sotmach real estate to do both at the same time. Heck, I'm nearly 5 months out and even *I* dont often do both at the same time.

As for the vites, if you can swallow them, it's ok to take them. You may have to work your way up to all of the vites you have to take, but at a month out I had started working my way to the full Vitalady schedule.

I would say at this point that you can disbelieve anything your surgeon says unless proven otherwise.  Just assume whatever the hell he says is wrong.

I'm so glad u asked these q's cause my surgeon said the same thing. I have definately learned so much from u guys. So happy to hear all our vites don't have to be chewables (hate the chalk like consistency).

i only did chewables for a couple of weeks, they are just too gross, my surgeon said if i can tolerate them i can swallow them, but take it slow, don't swallow 6 of them at once like i do now....keep asking questions, that is how we learn

You go right ahead and swallow pills as tolerated.  It's also ok to drink with meals.  However, at first I minimized the drinking so that I had room for sufficient protein.
Good luck to you
