New surgery and not losing
Thank you DSn'
I have been wanting watermelon so much, but worried about the carbs. I would love to eat more fruit as I miss it much!!!! I'm so worried about not losing weight I've been avoiding all of it. Thank you for the advice. Again I am so grateful for having found this site, and all of you wonderful friends.

I couldn't get enough watermelon! I ate it as OFTEN AS I WANTED (I had my surgery May 23, 2006). It was WATERMELON Season where I live! Thank GOD! It never seemed to bother me. It was great also for the liquid
. I weighed most every day (still do) and was always pleasantly surprised...even when I wasn't losing. I guess it was because I KNEW that I would never be where I was before surgery and that I was NOT DIETING with the ultimate end being 'gaining it all back and then some'! I KNEW I was going to lose and THAT I DID. I ended up losing 150 lbs and was extremely satisfied!
Just (you and your friend) take EACH DAY one day at a time and ENJOY THIS HONEYMOON STAGE...just like anything else that is new in our lives, the HONEYMOON STAGE doesn't last long enough! BUT, I WILL say, with the DS, life is still like CHRISTMAS MORNING to me!
ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY.

Hey, All. A_new_mii is my daughter and is trying to help me out. I just moved 1200 miles from her and from my doctor and nutritionist, so this forum is a God send! My husband passed away in November, so I have been dealing with grief as well as the WLS, I have been unpacking and trying to find places to put things. This is the house my husband built for us three years ago and wanted to be here as do I. He worked so hard on it for those three years and never got to enjoy the finished product. I went through the grieving process in AZ and thought I had it pretty well under control until I pulled up to the front of this house. It is like losing him all over again. But enough of that. I am not losing weight as a_new_mii indicated. I am quite sure that I am not getting enough fluid, I am eating about 70 or so grams of protein a day, a few carbs, and fat, I have been on antibiotics for an infection in my incision and it has made EVERYTHING taste terrible including water. i have tried flavoring it, and drinking other things like green tea, but NOTHING tastes good. I am literally having to choke down food as well as fluids, I am hoping that when the antibiotics are gone (tomorrow) that things will start tasting better and this will not be so hard!! I am taking the recommended vitamins etc. I finally bought some orange juice today and had a couple cups of it. It actually tasted good and got a little fluid in me, but the sugar and carbs are way too high. Thank you all for your input!!
My condolences to you and your family on the loss of your husband. I can't imagine what you are going through...just know you have support here.
You're on antibiotics which can cause diarrhea, so keep an eye on that to see if it improves. Be careful with the OJ as it's pure sugar, but since you are early out and in need of fluids you're ok with it. Try watering it down to cut the sugar intake. Different temperatures may make a difference too so experiment with it. Most important thing is to get the fluids in...protein and vites come later as you heal. Be patient with yourself...your body has been through major surgery...it will take time to heal and adjust...and once it does, you're in for a wild ride of weight loss!
