Wow...6 months already?!

Holy Cow has it already been 6 months?  I'm just floored that its passed as quickly as it has.  I can remember the few days and weeks leading up to surgery and how S  L  O  W  L  Y it crept by!  Now it seems like the days fly by and I live life as normally as I should.

Now - time for the before and afters...LOL

Before...at 251  OMG I cannot believe how disgusting I looked!

After...at 169.  I've lost 82 lbs and could not be happier!

I have yet to get my first labs drawn.  I will be doing that as soon as I get home.  I'm on vacation and a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding back home right now.  I feel really good, take my vites, eat right 90% of the time.  I still have a few issues with chicken breast and the feeling that its stuck right in the middle of my gut.  Other than that, there's not much I can't eat.  When I do eat the wrong things, mainly breads, pastas, and really sugary stuff, I blow up like a balloon, fart everyone out of the room and then spend the next morning on the toilet.  LOL  I know what the outcome will be and make my choices carefully!  I really try to concentrate on getting in my proteins every day.  Fluids have not been a problem with me, ever.

I must say that I never thought this path would be so simple.  Oddly enough, I don't feel like I've made that much change so its very easy to stick to what I need to do every day.  My family is amazed because I've never been able to be successful with my weight loss before.  I was a lightweight, so I didn't have that much to lose in comparison to some and it was a little daunting in the beginning to see people lose 100 lbs right off the bat and I was at 30 lbs weight loss.  I had to remind myself to remain patient and not to pay so much attention to the scale.

There are times that I still feel like the fat person I was before.  I mean, I DO see myself in the mirror and can acknowledge the loss and the difference I see but its hard to get over feeling FAT!  I think its something I'll always have to work on.  As far as plastic surgery - its going to depend on what I can get insurance to cover.  I most definitely have batwings!  Blah!  I think a lot of that is hereditary as my mom has them too, but they are God awful and I want them gone!  I think those bother me more than my tummy!  In that area, I could get away with a panniculectomy over a tummy tuck.  My ass....GONE!  Flat as a freakin' pancake.  I need a butt lift!  LOL  I'll just do some exercise in that area and hope it works.

Ok.  I've made this long enough!  I have so many people to thank for this journey and its success.  Everyone here has been an influence in one way or another.  My angel, Julie, has been a constant source of inspiration as I look at her success and has also become a dear friend.  Wenda, Darlene and many others have been contributors to my success and I can't thank you enough for welcoming me into your lives with open arms.  Elizabeth N - you and I haven't always seen eye to eye but you put me in my place early on and gave me some harsh but wise words to keep in the back of my mind and its kept me from being a whiney-butt!  LOL  I haven't lost as much as many of you but I AM grateful for what I have lost.  Its not the number that counts, its how you feel inside.  I FEEL AWESOME!!!  :o)

Here's to the next 6 months!

You look freaking amazing, Darcy!   You're losing at a perfect rate for you, as a lightweight.   My tummy is pretty flat too, but my poor saggy arms look like a skinny 90-year-old's.    You may notice in the next year or two that things firm up, so don't lose hope yet.     Congratulations!

Thank you Julie!!  Its good to know that things may still firm up some.  I figured I only had another 6 months for that to happen but I guess, now that you are saying it, I have heard 12 to 18 months before considering plastics.  The thought is there but I've found that I'm not too bad at being patient!  LOL

Darcy,
You are donig great and you are not done. Just keep hanging on as the ride is not over yet.  Don't forget to measure from time to time. I have always found when the scale is not moving the inches are dropping.
