I took your recommendation and ordered some boxes from here. I am incredibly impressed!! We spent $96 and we got steaks, ground turkey, ground chicken, hamburgers, a butt load of fruit and veggies, eggs, long life milk (very happy to see that since milk usually goes bad in our house since we just don't drink that much) spaghetti, jeez!!! I just can't remember everything.

It was incredibly worth it!!! If anyone is thinking about using this DO!!! It is open to anyone and there are several different packages you can choose from. There are several different locations you can choose from to pick up your packages. From the time we got into the Jeep until we parked back in the garage was about 20 minutes.

I can't thank you enough Sue.

If you want to do this just google Angel Food Ministries. It is very easy to use. I have already ordered our packages for next month.

We love their mission and work at one of the local sites every other month.   It's a great opportunity for people to get things inexpensively that are good quality and offer a great value.

Also, one semi-new thing, if you know someone in another area who could use a box you can order it yourself here and it will be avaialble at their pick up site.   A fantastic way to help someone or heck, I send them as bday gifts for nieces and nephews.

We just picked up our Angelfood boxes this morning and are already planning to order again next month! We got lots of good things.. and got oatmeal instead of pancake mix which is good. My brother is more likely to make instant oatmeal than he is to mix up some pancake batter and attempt to make pancakes again. (Last time he tried to make pancakes I came into the kitchen to find that he had poured the pancake batter onto a baking sheet and put it in the oven. For some reason he thought you were supposed to bake them.)

We're making scrambled eggs and sausage right now. Yum.
(ummm....the sausages weren't very good, but the dog liked them.)

I did the same thing after I read her post last month & am pretty pleased.  I ordered the "special" box of pulled pork and the gluten-free box of "to be fried" chicken tenders, patties, steaks, & nuggets.  I'm not thrilled with the fact that I have to fry them myself vs baking, but I guess it will probably taste better that way anyway.  Even though the GF box was a little pricey in terms of averaging $5 per pound, that really is a lot cheaper than you can find in any store . . . if you can even find something to be fried/ already coated that's gluten-free.  All the GF frozen items are SUPER expensive.  If I remember right, the pulled pork came out to abot $2 per pound.  It's uncooked, but came premixed with the bbq sauce.  It's 11 pounds, split into 2 packages.  I'm going to throw that in the slow cooker overnight tonight - oh yeah, it's gonna be GOOD!

**UPDATE**
It actually wasn't all that "GOOD!"  It was okay.  The meat quality is fine, but the "bbq sauce" was pretty much non-existent.  Luckily, I had a bottle of bbq sauce, 18 oz.  I added that & about 30 oz of water (this is for 5.5 pounds of pulled pork) & cooked it overnight.  It REALLY good use another bottle of bbq sauce, but alas, I do not have any.  If someone has the "schiznig" bbq sauce to add to it, this would be better.  The meat was fine.

I'm glad you liked it.  We kind of liked the Treasure Box better, but there are GOOD reasons for ordering either one.

And I'm not big on cash contributions to people I don't "know" very well, but I don't have trouble buying one of these for a family in need.

This is Treasure Box...closer to my house. I might order the Protein Box for next month, the others have more flour in them than we need.  That Breakfast Box makes me crave carbs just looking at it.  I will warn you that those "Complete Meals" things that I got from AF had almost nothing of protein in them, so I'm a little afeered af trying them here.

This is AngelFood...a little longer drive.  the Main Box--the $35 thing--looks like a good start to so many meals.  But between HeartAttack Boy and FlourSensitive Girl, we'd be giving a lot away. But the Premium Box looks doable, as do Special #1, #3, #4 and #5.  But again, those tv dinner things were horrid and had almost NO protein in them.  Here's their link...www.angelfoodministries.com/menus/menu_2011-06_en.asp

ETA:  I hope you ate them right up since the world came to an end in your area about 19 minutes ago.

In any group of a hundred people, there are probably 2 or 3 sociopaths.  In a group of a thousand, more like 20-30.  They function very well in "affinity groups," where people have things in common and tend to trust strangers.  I am NOT saying not to trust anyone.  I AM saying that there are probably two dozen sociopaths hanging out here and looking for victims.  Most are NOT serial killers.

Well since we are still here I guess either he got his dates wrong or he's full of **** (guess which one I pick). But we were really happy with what we got. We got the Bountiful Blessing box ($45.00), the box of 8 steaks ($25.00) and the fruit and veggie box ($24.00). I can't thank you enough for the recommendation.

You are welcome, but don't rave until you try the steaks.  My experience is that it could go either way on that part!  lol
